Savaal
''Savaal'' () is a 1981 Indian Tamil-language masala film directed by R. Krishnamoorthy, starring Kamal Haasan, Jaishankar, Vijayakumar, Sripriya and Lakshmi. The film was released on 3 July 1981 and did well at the box office. It is a remake of the Hindi film ''Haath Ki Safai'' (1974). Plot Brothers Shankar and Raja lose their mother. For survival, they plan to go to the city via a goods train. However at a junction, they get split and lead separate lives. Shankar grows up to be a smuggler while Raja becomes a petty pickpocketing criminal. Radha, a wealthy girl, falls in love in Raja. How Shankar and Raja get united forms the story. Salim–Javed were an Indian screenwriting duo, composed of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, working in Bollywood. They are noted for being the first Indian screenwriters to achieve star status, becoming the most successful Indian screenwriters of all time. Haath Ki Safai (; a euphemism for pickpocketing) is a 1974 Bollywood film, written by Salim–Javed, produced by I.A Nadiadwala, and directed by Prakash Mehra. The film stars Hema Malini, Randhir Kapoor and Vinod Khanna, who won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award, the only nomination and win for the film. The rest of the cast includes Simi Garewal, Ranjeet and Satyen Kappu. The music is by Kalyanji Anandji. The film became a "semi-hit" at the box office. Vasudevan (15 June 1944 – 20 February 2011), known as Malaysia Vasudevan, was a Malaysian-Indian playback singer and actor in Tamil cinema. Early life Malaysia Vasudevan's parents were from Palakkad. Chattu Nair of Ottappalam and Ammalu of Polpulli, along with their families migrated to British Malaya in search of a livelihood. After a few years, Chattu Nair married Ammalu in an arranged marriage. Vasudevan was born on 15 June 1944 as their eighth and youngest child. Even though he was a Malayali, as was the case with the majority of contemporary South Indian migrants to Malaya then, his surroundings in Malaysia was dominated by the Tamil language and culture. Thengai Srinivasan (21 October 1937 – 9 November 1987) was an Indian actor who appeared in Tamil language, Tamil-language films and plays from the 1960s to the 1980s. He was given the prefix ''Thengai'' (coconut) after his role as a coconut-seller in the play ''Kal Manam''. He was credited onscreen with title of ''Makkal Kalaingnar'' (people's artiste) or ''Makkal Thamizhan'' (people's Tamil) in most films starring him.
