Sauipe
Sauipe is a district in the municipality of Mata de São João, on the northern coast of the state of Bahia, in Brazil. There are few permanent residents there, due to the very high cost of residences and the fact that almost the entire area is filled with hotels and resorts, which form the largest tourist complex in Brazil. The district name is a reference to the local namesake river. Turismo Sauipe is recognized for the complex Costa do Sauipe, which is a major tourist hotel development consisting of four resorts. It extends over 176 hectares and is 76 kilometers from Salvador Airport. Due to its size, it has already received events such as the Brasil Open of Tennis from 2001 to 2011, the 2001 Beach Soccer World Championship, the XXXVI Ordinary Meeting of the Mercosur Common Market Council and the 2014 FIFA World Cup draw. 2001 Beach Soccer World Championship
The 2001 Beach Soccer World Championships was the seventh edition of the ''Beach Soccer World Championships'', the most prestigious competition in international beach soccer contested by men's national teams until 2005, when the competition was then replaced by the second iteration of a List of world cups in beach soccer, world cup in beach soccer, the better known ''FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup''. Brasil Open
The Brasil Open was a tennis tournament held annually in São Paulo, Brazil. It was part of the ATP Tour 250 series, and was one of the main events in the Brazilian tennis calendar alongside ATP Tour 500 Rio Open. Since 2004, it was a part of the South American clay court circuit but was held on hard courts prior to 2004. Nicolás Almagro and Pablo Cuevas hold the record for most singles titles with three each, while in doubles the record is held by Bruno Soares with three consecutive titles from 2011 to 2013. On 15 October 2019, tournament organisers announced that the tournament was being scrapped in favour of a return to the Chile Open. Mata De São João
Mata de São João is a Municipalities of Brazil, municipality in the states of Brazil, state of Bahia in the Nordeste, North-East region of Brazil. It covers and a population of 47,126 (2020 est.). 2014 FIFA World Cup Seeding
The final draw for the 2014 FIFA World Cup took place on 6 December 2013 at the Costa do Sauípe Resort, Mata de São João in Bahia, at 13:00 local time ( UTC−3). The ceremony determined the group in which the 32 participating teams would begin the final tournament. The teams were divided in advance by FIFA into four pots based on seedings and geographic regions. Seeding Seeding for the draw was based on the October 2013 version of the FIFA World Ranking. Although the November 2013 rankings were the most current at the time of the final draw, the usage of those rankings would advantage those teams who had played additional play-off matches in order to qualify. Brazil were not among the top eight seeded teams at the time but, in keeping with usual FIFA World Cup procedure, were seeded by virtue of being the host nation. Restinga
Restingas () are a distinct type of coastal tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forest in eastern Brazil. They form on sandy, acidic, and nutrient-poor soils, and are characterized by medium-sized trees and shrubs adapted to the drier and nutrient-poor conditions. One of the most notable restingas is the Restinga da Marambaia (in Rio de Janeiro), which is owned and kept by the Brazilian Army. Mangrove
A mangrove is a shrub or tree that grows in coastal saline water, saline or brackish water. The term is also used for tropical coastal vegetation consisting of such species. Mangroves are taxonomically diverse, as a result of convergent evolution in several plant families. They occur worldwide in the tropics and subtropics and even some temperate coastal areas, mainly between latitudes 30° N and 30° S, with the greatest mangrove area within 5° of the equator.
