Saraland is a city in Mobile County, Alabama, United States, and a suburb of Mobile. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 16,171, up from 13,405 at the 2010 census. Saraland, part of the Mobile metropolitan area, is the third largest city in Mobile County. Geography Saraland is located at (30.825186, -88.091932). It is bordered to the southwest by the city of Prichard, to the south by Chickasaw, to the east by the undeveloped northern end of Mobile, and to the northeast by Satsuma and Creola. U.S. Route 43 (Saraland Boulevard) and Interstate 65 are the main north-south routes through Saraland. Saraland High School (SHS), located in Saraland, Alabama, is a public high school operated by the Saraland City School System that educates grades 9– 12. The school's mascot is the spartan. History Saraland Schools was previously part of the Mobile County Public School System until 2006. Voters approved a plan to break away from the county system and form the Saraland City Schools system. Athletics Saraland High School competes in Class 6A of AHSAA. During the 2022 football season, the Spartans saw major success in their football program, winning their first 6A football title in program history. Mobile County Public School System (MCPSS) is a school district based in unincorporated Mobile County, Alabama, United States. The system currently serves areas of Mobile County, including the city of Mobile, with the exception of the cities of Saraland, Satsuma and Chickasaw.
