Saraland High School
Saraland High School (SHS), located in Saraland, Alabama, is a public high school operated by the Saraland City School System that educates grades 9– 12. The school's mascot is the spartan. History Saraland Schools was previously part of the Mobile County Public School System until 2006. Voters approved a plan to break away from the county system and form the Saraland City Schools system. Athletics Saraland High School competes in Class 6A of AHSAA. During the 2022 football season, the Spartans saw major success in their football program, winning their first 6A football title in program history. The team had made the title game twice before, but lost to Clay-Chalkville and Pinson Valley, respectively. During the 2022 title game, Saraland beat Mountain Brook High School, 17-38. Velus Tyler Phillip Jones Jr. (born May 11, 1997) is an American football wide receiver and return specialist for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at USC before transferring to Tennessee. Matthew Allen Peacock (born February 27, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. He has previously played in MLB for the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Kansas City Royals. Amateur career Peacock attended Saraland High School in Saraland, Alabama. In 2011, his junior year, he posted a 3.42 ERA while batting .440 with 32 RBIs. He earned All-State honorable mention. He was not drafted in the 2012 Major League Baseball draft, and he enrolled at the University of South Alabama where he played college baseball. Peacock redshirted and did not make an appearance during his freshman year in 2013. In 2014, as a redshirt freshman, he made eight relief appearances in which he went 0-1 with a 6.10 ERA. Cordale Flott (born August 24, 2001) is an American football cornerback for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at LSU. AHSAA
The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA), based in Montgomery, is the governing body for interscholastic athletics and activities programs for public schools in Alabama. The AHSAA is a member National Federation of State High School Associations since 1924. The AHSAA merged with the Alabama Interscholastic Athletic Association in 1968, forming one high school athletic association for the State of Alabama in accordance with a court order relating to athletics. Mobile County Public School System (MCPSS) is a school district based in unincorporated Mobile County, Alabama, United States. The system currently serves areas of Mobile County, including the city of Mobile, with the exception of the cities of Saraland, Satsuma and Chickasaw.
