Sanremo Music Festival 2011
The Sanremo Music Festival 2011 was the 61st annual Sanremo Music Festival, held at the Teatro Ariston in Sanremo, province of Imperia, during the five nights between 15 February 2011 and 19 February 2011. The artistic director of the show was Gianmarco Mazzi. Broadcast by Rai 1, the festival was presented by Gianni Morandi with Paolo Kessisoglu, Luca Bizzarri, Belén Rodríguez and Elisabetta Canalis. The competition was divided in two sections. The "Big Artists Section", including 14 established Italian artists, was won by Roberto Vecchioni with the song "Chiamami ancora amore", while the "Newcomers Section" was won by Raphael Gualazzi, performing "Follia d'amore". The festival also served as the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. Gianni Morandi
Gianni Morandi (; born 11 December 1944) is an Italian pop singer, actor and entertainer. Early life Gian Luigi Morandi was born in a little village called Monghidoro on the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. His father Renato was active within the Italian Communist Party and Gianni used to help him sell the party newspapers. At an early age Morandi worked as a shoe-shiner, cobbler and as a vendor of sweets in the village's only cinema. His vocal abilities led him to a number of small gigs, some of which were during the Communist Party's activities. Career He made his debut in 1962 and quickly placed high at or won a number of Italian popular song festivals, including the ''Canzonissima'' festival in 1969. Federico Moccia
Federico Moccia (born 20 July 1963) is an Italian writer, screenwriter and film director. His father Giuseppe Moccia was also a screenwriter and director. Tricarico (singer)
Francesco Maria Tricarico (Milan, 1 February 1971), better known under the mononym Tricarico, is an Italian singer-songwriter. Tricarico is mainly known for his top-five hits "Io sono Francesco", released in 2000, and "Vita tranquilla", which was launched during the Sanremo Music Festival 2008. Music career Tricarico rose to fame in 2000, when he released his debut single, "Io sono Francesco", which hit number one in Italy, selling more than 60,000 copies and generating some controversy following its lyrical content, which included an insult to a school teacher and was therefore censored by some radio stations. Massimo Pezzali (born 14 November 1967 in Pavia), commonly known as Max Pezzali, is an Italian singer-songwriter. He was the principal singer and songwriter of the pop rock group 883. Rosario (Roy) Paci (born September 16, 1969 in Augusta) is an Italian trumpeter, singer, composer and arranger. Music and career Born in Sicily, Paci started playing the piano as a young child and picked up the trumpet at age 10.
