Sangiliyandapuram ( ta, சங்கிலியாண்டபுரம்) is a neighbourhood in the city of Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, India Etymology The etymology is from a temple dedicated to Sangiliyandavar located in the area. Because of its close proximity to Golden Rock, Tiruchirappalli, Ponmalai workshop and downtown of the city, retired railway employees from the workshop were the first people to set up their homes here, most of whom were the Anglo-Indians of Pinto Colony. Famous The area is famous for its contribution to Tamil cinema and aluminium metal works. Sangilyandapuram was the epicentre of aluminium metal works in Tamil Nadu. Many metal workshops including Trichy Metals Ltd., has their presence here. With the advent of Stainless Steel the business started to lose its sheen and now only a few workshops dot the area. Golden Rock ( ta, பொன்மலை, ''Ponmalai'') is one of the four zones of Tiruchirappalli. The railway colony and railway workshop are nearby Demographics The majority of the area is occupied by Golden Rock Railway Workshop and its residential colonies for its employees. Chathiram Bus Station, Tiruchirappalli
Chathiram Bus Stand, Tiruchirappalli, old name ''Chinnaiya Pillai Chathiram'' also popularly known Chathiram perundu nilayam or Chathiram Bus Stand, is one of the bus termini of Trichy, other being the Central Bus Stand. The terminus is located in a land of near Chintamani, adjacent to St. Joseph's College. Overview This ‘D’graded terminus, taking its name from the nearby Chinnaiya Pillai Chathiram, became functional since 1979 and officially recognised in 2005. Villupuram Chinnaiya Manrayar Ganesamoorthy, better known by his stage name Sivaji Ganesan, (1 October 1928 – 21 July 2001) was an Indian actor and producer. He was active in Tamil cinema during the latter half of the 20th century. Sivaji Ganesan is acknowledged as one of the greatest Indian actors of all time and among the most imitated one by other actors. T. V. Radhakrishnan, better known as Kaka Radhakrishnan ( – 14 June 2012) was an Indian actor who acted in Tamil language films from the year 1940. Central Bus Station, popularly known as Central Bus Stand, is one of the bus termini of Trichy, located near Cantonment, the other being the Chatram Bus Stand. The terminus spread over an area of is managed by the Department of Transport (Tamil Nadu).
