Sandy (singer)
Sandy Leah Lima (, born 28 January 1983), known mononymously as Sandy, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter and actress. Born and raised in Campinas, Sandy began her career in 1989 when she formed with her brother, musician Junior Lima, the vocal duo Sandy & Junior. They rose to fame in the early 1990s as child stars and reached the height of their success during teenage, as albums ''Era Uma Vez... Ao Vivo'' (1998), ''As Quatro Estações'' (1999), ''Quatro Estações: O Show'' (2000) and ''Sandy & Junior'' (2001) sold more than a million units, with the second and third being among the best-selling albums of all time in Brazil. The duo were credited with leading a wave of teen pop artists during the late 1990s and early 2000s, with the press labelling Sandy the Brazilian " Princess of Pop". ''MTV Unplugged'' is an American television series on MTV showcasing musical artists usually playing acoustic instruments. The show aired regularly from 1989 to 1999 and less frequently from 2000 to 2009, when it was usually billed as ''MTV Unplugged No. 2.0''. ''Superstar'' (also stylized ''SuperStar'') is a Brazilian live reality television singing competition airing on TV Globo. Based on the Israeli singing competition '' Rising Star'', the series was created by Keshet Media Group and developed by Screenz Cross Media LTD. The show's format lets viewers vote for contestants via mobile apps. The winner is entitled to a R$ 500,000 prize, a new Ford Ka and a recording contract with Som Livre. Telenovela
A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Similar drama genres around the world include '' teleserye'' (Philippines), '' téléroman'' (Canada, specifically Quebec), and ''sinetron'' (Indonesia). Commonly described using the American colloquialism Spanish soap opera, many telenovelas share some stylistic and thematic similarities to the soap opera familiar to the English-speaking world. The significant difference is their series run length; telenovelas tell one self-contained story, typically within the span of a year or less whereas soap operas tend to have intertwined storylines told during indefinite, continuing runs.
