Robert Sandeman (29 April 1718, in Perth – 2 April 1771, in Danbury, Connecticut) was a Scottish nonconformist theologian. Margot Sandeman
Margot Sandeman (27 May 1922 — 17 January 2009) was a Scottish painter, close friend of Joan Eardley and long-time collaborator with poet Ian Hamilton Finlay. Early life Margot Sandeman was born in Glasgow to a family of Scottish artists, the daughter of self-taught watercolourist Archibald Sandeman (1887-1941), and internationally known embroiderer Muriel Boyd (1887-1981). Sandeman grew up in Bearsden in a creative household, influenced by William Morris and the Arts and Crafts movement. The family home was decorated by her mother with texts such as "Bread feeds the body but flowers the soul". Studies Sandeman studied at the Glasgow School of Art, where her contemporaries included Joan Eardley and the poet Ian Hamilton Finlay. Sir Alexander Nairne Stewart Sandeman, 1st Baronet (12 October 1876 – 23 April 1940) was a Conservative Party politician in the United Kingdom. He was elected at the 1923 general election as Member of Parliament (MP) for Middleton and Prestwich, and held the seat until his death in 1940, aged 63. Early life and career He was born in Perthshire in 1876, the son of Col. Frank Stewart Sandeman of Stanley, Perthshire, and Laura Condie; he was educated Trinity College, Glenalmond and married Evelyn F. J. Bell. David Sandeman
David George Sandeman FRSE (1757–1835) was an 18th/19th century Scottish merchant who was a founder of Sandemans Port and one of the co-founders of the Commercial Bank of Scotland. His family were all Glasites, an independent Christian sect, founded by one of their ancestors and sometimes called Sandemanians. Life He was born on 28 June 1757 in Perth, Scotland the son of George Sandeman of Springland (1724-1803) and his wife, Jean Duncan of Seaside. His younger brother was George Sandeman (1765-1841). In 1790/91 they jointly founded the company of Sandeman's Port. In 1798 David left the company to found the Commercial Bank of Scotland. Between 1805 and 1810 he moved to Edinburgh setting up David George Sandeman & Co at 11 Forth Street in the eastern New Town. In 1810 he founded the Commercial Bank of Scotland, originally housed at 22 Picardy Place at the head of Leith Walk. Sir Robert Groves Sandeman, KCSI (1835–1892) was a British Indian Army officer and colonial administrator. He was known for his activities in Balochistan, where he introduced a system of "tribal pacification" that endured until the partition of India in 1947. Early life Sandeman was born on 25 February 1835, the son of General Robert Turnbull Sandeman. He was educated at Perth and University of St Andrews, and joined the 33rd Bengal Infantry in 1856. When that regiment was disarmed at Phillour by General John Nicholson during the Indian Rebellion of 1857, he took part in the final capture of Lucknow as adjutant of the 11th Bengal Lancers. After the suppression of the Mutiny he was appointed to the Punjab Commission by Sir John Lawrence. Captain George Amelius Crawshay Sandeman (18 April 1882 – 26 April 1915) was an English first-class cricketer. Sandeman was a left-handed batsman who bowled slow left-arm orthodox. Bradley Robert Sandeman (born 24 February 1970) is an English former footballer who made 249 league and cup appearances in a nine-year career in the Football League. A versatile passer of the ball, he began his career at Northampton Town in 1988. He was sold on to Maidstone United for £10,000 in February 1991, before he was allowed to join Port Vale on a free transfer in July 1992. He helped the club to win promotion out of the Second Division in 1993–94, before he was given a free transfer to Rotherham United in May 1996. Albert George Sandeman
Albert George Sandeman (21 October 1833 – 6 January 1923) was an English businessman and the 100th Governor of the Bank of England. He was born the eldest of the nine children of George Glas Sandeman, head of the Sandeman (wine), Sandeman wine importing company, and his wife Elizabeth Forster. He entered the family business at the age of 16 and at 20 was sent to work at the Oporto office in Portugal. He later became a director of the London Dock Company and in 1866 a director of the Bank of England. He was appointed High Sheriff of Surrey for 1872–73. On his father's death in 1888 he became chairman of the family business of Geo. G. Sandeman & Sons Ltd. In 1894 he was made Deputy Governor of the Bank of England, becoming Governor the following year until 1897. Mary Sandeman (born 20 November 1947), better known by her stage name Aneka , is a retired Scottish singer. In 1981, she reached number one in the UK Singles Chart with her song "Japanese Boy". She was well known for the Oriental image she took on for the song. After her brief foray into pop, she reverted to her real name and reestablished herself as an accomplished singer of traditional Scottish music. Gillian Ann Sandeman (born ) is a former politician from Ontario, Canada. She was a New Democratic member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1975 to 1977. She represented the riding of Peterborough.
