Samuel Firewu
Samuel Firewu Fiche (born 3 May 2004) is an Ethiopian track and field athlete. He finished second at the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships and won the 2022 Ethiopian Athletics Championships in the 3000m steeplechase. Career In 2021 Samuel Firewu finished fourth in the Men's 3000 metres steeplechase at the 2021 World Athletics U20 Championships in Nairobi. In March 2022 he became Ethiopia senior champion for the first time winning the 3000m steeplechase in Addis Ababa. He finished fifth at the 2022 African Championships in Athletics in June 2022 in Port Louis, Mauritius. In August 2022, he finished as runner-up to compatriot Samuel Duguna to win the silver medal in the 3000 metres steeplechase at the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships in Cali, Colombia. Samuel Firewu set a new personal best time of 8:10.57 at the Diamond League event in Monaco, in July 2023. The 2024 Meeting International Mohammed VI d'Athlétisme was the 15th edition of the annual outdoor track and field meeting in Morocco. Held on 19 May at the Stade de Marrakech, it was the fourth leg of the 2024 Diamond League – the highest level international track and field circuit. Though the meeting is typically held in Rabat, in 2024 it was held in Marrakesh. 2024 Doha Diamond League
The 2024 Seashore Group Doha Diamond League was the 26th edition of the annual outdoor track and field meeting in Doha, Qatar. Held on 10 May 2024 at the Suheim bin Hamad Stadium, it was the third leg of the 2024 Diamond League – the highest level international track and field circuit. Beginning in 2024, it was sponsored by Seashore Group. The meeting was highlighted by world leads from Kenny Bednarek and Alison Dos Santos, who ran the fastest 400 metres hurdles time set before June of any year. Athletics At The 2023 African Games
The 13th African Games is expected to be held in three cities in Ghana in 2024 on dates yet to be confirmed. This will be the second time in history that the games will be decentralized in a process that started in the previous edition held in Morocco. The three cities chosen for these functions are Accra, Kumasi, and Cape Coast. Bids * Accra, Ghana (elected) * Abuja, Nigeria * Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso Ghana won the rights to host the event in October 2018. In November 2021, Ghana signed an agreement with the African Union to host the event. Venues Plans to build a new stadium for the event were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
