Saleem Raza (singer)
Noel Dias (4 March 1932 – 25 November 1983), better known as Saleem Raza ( ur, ), was a Pakistani playback singer. He started his singing career from Lahore, Pakistan and quickly gained popularity. Raza was a classically- trained singer and was more famous for singing sad songs. Raza's career suffered due to the rise of singer Ahmed Rushdi in the late 1950s. He left playback singing in 1966 as he lost his popularity with the film composers and moved to Canada where he died in 1983. Career Saleem Raza was born Noel Dias in a Christian family. After the independence of Pakistan in 1947, he migrated to Pakistan and settled in Lahore. He first sang for Lahore Radio Station. Raza also made friends with an artist of the time, Mohni Hameed. Raza and Hameed were often seen attending events together. Additionally, Raza learned music from the music composers of the day including Master Sadiq Ali, and Ustaad Aashiq Husain. Mujeeb Aalam
Mujeeb Aalam (2 September 1948 – 2 June 2004) was a Pakistani playback singer who had a short film career. His singing style was a mixture of Mehdi Hassan and Ahmad Rushdi's style. He sang dozens of hit songs in late 1960s. However, he lost his popularity in mid-1970s as more versatile singers like Akhlaq Ahmed and A Nayyar entered Pakistan film industry. Early life and career Mujeeb Alam was born in 1948 in the city of Kanpur and then settled with his parents in Lahore. He started his career at the age of 14 from Radio Pakistan, Lahore. Musician ''Hassan Latif'' gave him the chance to sing in his film Nargis, but the film didn't release. However, in 1966, he recorded songs for the film ''Jalwa'' and in 1967, a song from Chakori ''Woh mere samney'' became popular. Muslehuddin (composer)
Moslehuddin (born Abul Qasim Mohammed Moslehuddin; 27 October 1932 6 August 2003; also spelled Muslehuddin) was a Pakistani film score composer and music director. He composed music for sixteen Lollywood films besides contributing to Pakistan Television Corporation, Pakistan Television, the BBC, Music of Bengal, Bengali music and stage and TV shows. At the young age of sixteen, he started his career as a composer. He married Nahid Niazi in Lahore, Pakistan, on 10 January 1964. Hassan Latif
Hassan Latif (1916 – 9 November 1979) was a Pakistani music director known for composing popular film songs like, "''Ja apni hasraton pe aanson baha ke sou ja''" (Film: ''Susral'' 1962) and "''Gaadi ko chalana babu zara halkay halkay''" (Film: ''Anokhi'' 1956). Latif composed a ''Naʽat'' for the film ''Noor-e-Islam'' (1957), "''Shah-e-Madina Yathrib Ke Waali''", that is still regarded as a classic. Kartar Singh (film)
''Kartar Singh'' is a 1959 Pakistani Punjabi film about the partition of India in 1947 and the widespread violence related to it. It describes the conflicts between Hindus, Muslims and the Sikhs. This film is said to be based on real-life events in 1947. The title role is about an antagonist Kartar Singh who is a petty criminal and a trouble-maker, played by Allauddin who became very well-known after it, and often remembered as Kartar Singh. On seeing this film in Indian Punjab theater screens, it is said that Sikhs failed to recognize him as a Muslim, as he is not a Sikh in real life. ''Saheli'' () is a 1960 Pakistani Urdu language music blockbuster classical film directed by S. M. Yusuf and co-produced by F. M. Sardar. It is written by Hasrat Lakhnavi while music is composed by A. Hameed. It features Nayyar Sultana, Shamim Ara and Darpan (actor) in the lead while supporting actors features Aslam Pervaiz along with others. It was screened in 2016 by the Lok Virsa Museum. ''Bedari'', a Pakistani Urdu black and white film, was a classic melodious film of 1956. This film had an identical plot and the songs like Indian film Jagriti (1954), with replacement of some words, and music was taken directly from Jagriti as well. Actor Rattan Kumar (Syed Nazir Ali), who had moved from India to Pakistan with his family, played a lead role in this film. When 'Bedari' was released in Pakistan in 1956, it made fabulous business in the first few weeks of exhibition. ''Ishq-e-Laila'' is a 1957 Pakistani Urdu language fantasy romance film directed by Munshi Dil and produced by J.C. Anand.
