Saira Shah
Saira Shah (born 5 October 1964) is a British author, reporter and documentary filmmaker. She produces, writes and narrates current affairs films. Life Shah was born in London and raised in Kent, England. She was educated at Bryanston School and read Arabic and Persian at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, graduating in 1986. Her father was Idries Shah, an Indian-Afghan and half- Scottish writer of books on Sufism. Part of his family was originally from Paghman, Afghanistan. Her mother is half-Indian Parsi and half-English. The author Tahir Shah is her brother and she also has a sister, Tahir's twin, Safia Shah. Shah currently lives between London and rural France with her partner, journalist and photographer Scott Goodfellow, and their son and daughter Hamish and Rosie Goodfellow. ''Death in Gaza'' is a 2004 documentary film about the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, opening in the West Bank but then moving to Gaza and eventually settling in Rafah where the film spends most of its time. It concentrates on three children, Ahmed (age 12), Mohammed (age 12), and Najla (age 16). Hardcash Productions is a British independent television production company set up by David Henshaw in 1992. Hardcash specialises in current affairs programmes and has won a range of awards - including six Emmys, two BAFTAs, the Prix Italia, four RTS Journalism Awards, three Peabodys and two Griersons. Hardcash most recently won a BAFTA for its 2022 Dispatches programme ''Beneath The Veil''. The ''Hardcash'' name came from an undercover investigation about employers made by Henshaw for the BBC. The programme was never aired for legal reasons. Henshaw set up Hardcash to remake the programme for Channel 4 as an episode of the ''Cutting Edge'' series. James Miller (filmmaker)
James Henry Dominic Miller (18 December 1968 – 2 May 2003) was a Welsh cameraman, producer, and director, and recipient of numerous awards, including five Emmy Awards. He was killed by Israel Defense Forces (IDF) gunfire while filming a documentary in the Gaza Strip. Miller worked regularly with Saira Shah for several years, and they formed a business partnership to operate an independent production company called Frostbite Productions in 2001. The Israeli Military Police investigation into Miller's death closed on 9 March 2005 with an announcement that the soldier suspected of firing the shot would not be indicted as they could not establish that his shot was responsible, though he would be disciplined for violating the rules of engagement and for changing his account of the incident. Safia Nafisa Shah ( fa, سفیا شاه, gu, સફિયા શાહ; born 16 November 1966), now Safia Thomas, is a British writer, editor, television news producer and member of the Afghan-Indian Shah family.
