Sainte-Anne-des-Monts () is a city in the Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine region of the province of Quebec in Canada. Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, a small city between the Chic-Choc Mountains and sea, is on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence river estuary. In addition to Sainte-Anne-des-Monts itself, the municipality also encompasses the communities of L'Anse-de-l'Église, L'Anse-Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, Mont-Albert, Petit-Tourelle, Ruisseau-à-Patates, and Tourelle. History The name of Notre-Dame first appeared on schematic maps in 1709. The official nomenclature came from the ''seigneurie'' of Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, conceded to Denis Riverin in 1688. The first settlers arrived in 1815 and established small fisheries. The place was incorporated as a municipality in 1855. Gaspé (provincial Electoral District)
Gaspé is a provincial electoral district in the Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine region of Quebec, Canada, which elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It is located on the eastern edge of the Gaspé Peninsula. It notably includes the municipalities of Gaspé, Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, Grande-Rivière and Percé. It was originally created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada and the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada). Its final election was in 1927. It disappeared in the 1931 election and its successor electoral districts were Gaspé-Nord and Gaspé-Sud. It was re-created for the 1973 election by merging part of Gaspé-Nord with all of Gaspé-Sud, which both ceased to exist. Gaspésie National Park
Gaspésie National Park (french: Parc national de la Gaspésie) is a provincial park located south of the town of Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, Quebec, Canada in the inland of the Gaspé peninsula. The park contains the highest peak of the Appalachian Mountains in Canada, Mont Jacques-Cartier, above sea level. In addition, the park contains the only population of Caribou found south of the Saint Lawrence River in Canada. Geology There are two major and geologically distinct mountain ranges in the park. The first one, to the west of the St-Anne's River, is the Chic-Choc Mountains, Chic-Choc Mountain range. This range is 600 million years old and was mainly formed from underwater volcanic activity. Gaspésie—Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine () is a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 2004.
