Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée
Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée (, literally ''Saint-Étienne of Tinée''; ; Vivaro-Alpine: ''Sant Estève d'en Tiniá'') is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in southeastern France. It was part of the historic County of Nice until 1860. The ski resort of Auron is located on the territory of the commune, and linked to the village of Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée directly by a gondola lift. Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur is the ''métropole'', an intercommunal structure, centred on the city of Nice. It is located in the Alpes-Maritimes department, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, southeastern France. Auron (ski Resort)
Auron is a ski resort with of ski runs, at an elevation of to , in the French alps in the Alpes-Maritimes department. It is located above the Tinée Valley near the town of Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée. It is situated north of Nice. The resort is part of the Stations du Mercantour group, along with Isola 2000 and St. Dalmas. Piste and Lift Facilities Auron has a total of 43 runs (as of December 2015), including 3 green runs, 16 blue runs, 15 red runs and 9 black runs. In total there is 135 km of piste for skiing and snowboarding. Auron currently has 3 gondola lifts, 9 chairlifts, 3 button lifts and one rope lift for beginners. Vivaro-Alpine ( oc, vivaroalpenc, vivaroaupenc) is a variety of Occitan spoken in southeastern France (namely, around the Dauphiné area) and northwestern Italy (the Occitan Valleys of Piedmont and Liguria). There is also a small Vivaro-Alpine enclave in the Guardia Piemontese, Calabria, where the language is known as ''gardiòl''.
