Saint-Georges () is a city in the province of Quebec. It is the seat of Beauce-Sartigan Regional County Municipality, part of the Chaudière-Appalaches region. The population was 32,935 as of the Canada 2021 Census. Route 173 runs through Saint-Georges Est (where it is known as Boulevard Lacroix) and heads south to the border with Maine, USA. The name of the parish and of the city, Saint-Georges, is in homage to George Pozer, the fourth seigneur of Aubert-Gallion. Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague is a municipality in the Les Etchemins Regional County Municipality in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec, Canada. Its population is 374 as of the Canada 2016 Census. It lies on the Canada–United States border. Name The origin of the name of the municipality is subject to debate and three versions are possible. It seems that settlers would have liked to name their parish Saint-Louis, but it was refused due to possible confusion with Saint-Louis-de-Kamouraska (now part of Kamouraska, Quebec). Monsignor Elzéar-Alexandre Taschereau then suggested to name it Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague, following saint Aloysius Gonzaga. Fabien Roy (born April 17, 1928) is a former Canadian politician who was active in Quebec in the 1970s. Roy was elected to the National Assembly of Quebec and the House of Commons of Canada, and advocated social credit theories of monetary reform. Background Roy was born in Saint-Prosper, Quebec. He studied accounting, sales management, and human resources in the Saint-Georges seminary, and commercial law, political economy and business administration at Université Laval. In 1980, following his departure from politics, he studied property valuation.
