Saint-Denis-de-Brompton, Quebec
Saint-Denis-de-Brompton is a municipality in the Canadian province of Quebec, part of the Regional County Municipality of Le Val-Saint-François, within the larger administrative region of Estrie. It is located approximately 145 kilometres east of Montreal. The municipality is located in a densely wooded area on the shores of Lake Brompton. History The region was still little frequented at the beginning of the 19th century when the township of Brompton was proclaimed in 1801 on the lands of the county of Buckinghamshire. The parish of Saint-Denis-de-Brompton was founded in this township in 1922. Its name pays homage to Father Joseph-Denis Bellemare, parish priest of Saint-François-Xavier-de-Brompton. On March 6, 1935, the parish municipality of Saint-Denis-de-Brompton was created by detachment of the municipalities of Brompton, Orford, Saint-François-Xavier-de-Brompton and Saint-Élie-d'Orford. Rock Forest–Saint-Élie–Deauville
Rock Forest–Saint-Élie–Deauville is an ''arrondissement'', or borough, of the city of Sherbrooke, Quebec. The borough comprises the formerly independent cities of Rock Forest, Deauville and Saint-Élie-d'Orford, which were annexed into the city of Sherbrooke on January 1, 2002. The borough had a population of 35,500 in 2009. Government The borough is represented by four councillors on the Sherbrooke City Council. Communities Deauville had a census population of 3,394 in 2006. The population increased by 16.9 percent from 2001 to 2006. Rock Forest (2006 population 20,693) is located on the Magog River. Its population increased 10.9 percent from 2001 to 2006. The site was first populated by English, Scottish and Irish immigrants during the 19th century, and was given the name "Drop Off" from the spot on the Magog River where a first wooden bridge was built. Orford, Quebec
Orford is a township municipality of about 5,000 people in Memphrémagog Regional County Municipality in the Estrie region of Quebec, Canada. Orford's main attraction is its ski resort on Mount Orford, attracting thousands of people every winter. Orford is well known for the Mont-Orford National Park. The park has thousands of acres of forest and two major lakes, Stukley and Fraser. Cherry river runs through the park and ends up in Lake Memphremagog. The township has many lakes and is a tourist destination in Quebec. Sherbrooke ( ; ) is a city in southern Quebec, Canada. It is at the confluence of the Saint-François and Magog rivers in the heart of the Estrie administrative region. Sherbrooke is also the name of a territory equivalent to a regional county municipality (TE) and census division (CD) of Quebec, coextensive with the city of Sherbrooke.
