Saidpur ( bn, সৈয়দপুর) is an upazila of Nilphamari District in the Division of Rangpur, Bangladesh. Saidpur thana; later renamed to upazila was established in 1915. Geography Saidpur is located at . It is bounded by Nilphamari Sadar and Kishoreganj upazilas on the north, Badarganj and Parbatipur upazilas on the south, Taraganj upazila on the east, Chirirbandar and Khansama upazilas on the west. Total area of Saidpur is 121.68 km2. Demographics As of the 2011 Bangladesh census, Saidpur has a population of 264461. Males constitute 52.19% of the population, and females 47.81%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 98745. Saidpur has an average literacy rate of 54.6% (7+ years), and the national average of 48.4% literate. An ''upazila'' ( bn, উপজেলা, upôzela, lit=sub-district pronounced: ), formerly called ''thana'', is an administrative region in Bangladesh, functioning as a sub-unit of a district. Syedpur Airport (Bengali: সৈয়দপুর বিমানবন্দর '' Saiẏadapur bimānabandar'') is a domestic airport located in Syedpur, Nilphamari, Bangladesh. Syedpur is a city of Nilphamari district in Rangpur division, and Syedpur Airport is the northernmost airport in country. Union council ( bn, ইউনিয়ন পরিষদ, translit=iūniyan pariṣad, translit-std=IAST), also known as union parishad, rural council, rural union and simply union, is the smallest rural administrative and local government unit in Bangladesh. Each union council is made up of nine wards. Usually one village is designated as a ward. There are 4,562 unions in Bangladesh. Asiatic Society Of Bangladesh
The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh is a non political and non profit research organisation registered under both Society Act of 1864 and NGO Bureau, Government of Bangladesh. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh was established as the Asiatic Society of East Pakistan in Dhaka in 1952 by a number of Muslim leaders, and renamed in 1972. Ahmed Hasan Dani, a noted Muslim historian and archaeologist of Pakistan played an important role in founding this society. He was assisted by Muhammad Shahidullah, a Bengali linguist. Chini Mosque
Chini Mosque ( bn, চিনি মসজিদ, ur, چنی مسجد) is located in Saidpur city of Nilphamari district in Rangpur Division of Bangladesh. The mosque is also known as Glass Mosque. The construction of the mosque was started in 1863 by Haji Bakir Ali Ahmed and was completed within a year as a little prayer house. Later Wazir Ali Ahmed, a descendant of the founders family started the extension and modification work of this mosque. After that, in the middle of the 20th century the sons of the late Wazir Ali Ahmed, Mofizuddin Ahmed and Shafiuddin Ahmed (well known as cloth merchants) continued the beautification work of the mosque. At the time the ceramics pieces were brought from Kolkata as there was no ceramic factory in East Pakistan/Bengal (present Bangladesh). 2011 Bangladesh Census
In 2011, the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, conducted a national census in Bangladesh, which provided a provisional estimate of the total population of the country as 142,319,000. The previous decennial census was the 2001 census. Data were recorded from all of the districts and upazilas and main cities in Bangladesh including statistical data on population size, households, sex and age distribution, marital status, economically active population, literacy and educational attainment, religion, number of children etc. Bangladesh and India also conducted their first joint census of areas along their border in 2011. According to the census, Hindus constituted 8.5 per cent of the population as of 2011, down from 9.6 per cent in the 2001 census. Bangladesh have a population of 144,043,697 as per 2011 census report.
