Sabiny
The Sebei are a Southern Nilotic ethnic group inhabiting eastern Uganda. They speak Kupsabiny, a Kalenjin language. The Sapiiny occupy three districts, namely Bukwo, Kween and Kapchorwa. Culture The Sebei people lead a fairly simple life style. The main structures of their lives are centered around cattle keeping, growing crops, and making beer. Common jobs held by the Sebei include cattle rearing and farming. The jobs depend on where you live. Because of their fairly laid back culture, the need for major social structure is limited. Sebei people are relatively peaceful, there are limited criminal offenses that one could do. In Sebei culture, there are two levels of criminal offense. The highest level is for murder and physical assault, the lower level is for property or major civil disputes between people or groups of people. Kapchorwa District
Kapchorwa District is a district in the Eastern Region of Uganda. The town of Kapchorwa is the district's main municipal, administrative, and commercial center, and is the site of the district headquarters. It is also the home district of Stephen Kiprotich, the men's marathon gold medalist at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, and Joshua Cheptegei, the men's 5,000 m gold medalist at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Boniface Toroitich Kiprop
Boniface Toroitich Kiprop (born 12 October 1985 in Kapchorwa District) is a track and field athlete from Uganda. His older brother Martin Toroitich is also a runner, who has featured at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships. Boniface Kiprop is coached by Giuseppe Giambrone and he is actually making part of the Tuscany Training Camp project. Career At the 2001 African Junior Championships in Mauritius, he competed in the 5000 and 10000 metres, finishing 1st and 2nd respectively. Two years later the championships were held in Cameroon, and he won both events. At the 2003 All-Africa Games he finished 4th in 10000 metres and 6th in 5000 metres. Peruth Chemutai
Peruth Chemutai (born July 10, 1999) is a Ugandan steeplechase runner. She won the gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo in the women's 3000 metres steeplechase race, becoming the first Ugandan woman ever to win an Olympic medal. Hailing from the Bukwo District, she took up running in 2013 after attending the District Athletics Championships in Bukwo as a casual fan. At the 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games in Apia, she won silver medals in the 1500 metres and 3000 metres. She also competed in the junior women's race at the 2017 IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Kampala, finishing in 7th place. Stephen Kiprotich
Stephen Kiprotich ("KIP-roh-tich", born 27 February 1989) is a Ugandan long-distance runner. He is an Olympic marathon champion, having won the gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics. Kiprotich also won a gold at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics. He is the second person, after Gezahegne Abera, to follow an Olympic marathon title with a world championship gold medal for the same event. Kiprotich became 2012 Olympic champion with a winning time of 2:08:01 in hot, sunny, and humid conditions. Moses Ndiema Kipsiro
Moses Ndiema Kipsiro (born 2 September 1986 in Singare) is a Ugandan long-distance runner who specialises in the 5000 metres. He was the bronze medallist in the event at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics. He represented Uganda at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, coming fourth over 5000 m. Kipsiro has won medals in the 5000 m at the African Championships in Athletics and the All-Africa Games. He completed a 5000/10,000 metres double at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Stella Chesang (born 1 December 1996) is a long-distance runner from Uganda who competed in the Athletics at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Women's 5000 metres event at the 2016 Olympics. In April 2018, she won the gold medal in the 10,000 metres at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, held in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Oscar Chelimo (born 12 December 2001) is a Ugandan long-distance runner. His older brother, Jacob Kiplimo is also an elite long-distance runner. Career In 2018, he finished in 7th place in the men's 5000 metres event at the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships held in Tampere, Finland. In 2018, he also competed in the boys' 3000 metres at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics held in Buenos Aires, Argentina and he won the bronze medal.
