STV2
STV2 was a British local television network in Scotland, operating five city-based TV licences serving Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen and Ayr. It was owned and operated by STV Group plc. Initially broadcast as two separate stations – STV Glasgow and STV Edinburgh – the launch of three local licences in Aberdeen, Dundee and Ayr led to the launch of a single networked service on 24 April 2017. In May 2018, it was announced that STV2 would shut down at the end of June 2018 as part of a strategic review. It closed on 30 June 2018. Overview In January 2013, the broadcast regulator Ofcom announced STV had been awarded two licences to broadcast local TV services in the Glasgow and Edinburgh areas for a twelve-year period. Live At Five (STV2)
''Live at Five'' (also known as ''Live at 7.30'') is a Scottish topical entertainment and magazine programme which originally aired on STV2 in Scotland, excluding weekends which looked at the latest on the current trends happening in Scotland from music, art and culture among others. The show was presented by David Farrell and Jennifer Reoch with other presenters such as Hayley Matthews, Liam Dolan, Rachel McTavish, Ewen Cameron, Susie Cormack Bruce or Zara Janjua being present whenever Farrell and/or Reoch were unable to present the programme. The programme airs at 5pm and during its ''Live at 7.30'' editions, the programme aired at 7.30pm. On 16 May 2018, it was announced that STV2 would close and all of its original programming including ''Live at Five'' would be axed in June 2018. The Late Show With Ewen Cameron
''The Late Show with Ewen Cameron'', (also known as ''The Late Show'') is a late-night talk show television programme that originally was broadcast in Scotland on the STV2 network channel presented by comedian and television personality Ewen Cameron. The show began broadcasting in January 2016, originally on the STV Glasgow and STV Edinburgh networks, until both channels were axed in 2017 and merged to form the new STV2 channel, where the programme aired at 10:30 pm. On 16 May 2018, it was announced that STV2 would close and all of its original programming including ''The Late Show with Ewen Cameron'' would be axed in June 2018. The final episode aired on 28 June 2018 ahead of the STV2 closure on 30 June 2018. STV (TV Channel)
STV is a Scottish free-to-air public broadcast television channel owned and operated by the STV Group. It is made up of the Central Scotland and Northern Scotland Channel 3 public broadcaster licences, formerly known as Scottish Television (now legally STV Central Ltd) and Grampian Television (now legally STV North Ltd) respectively. The STV brand refers to the on-air name used by Scottish Television for much of its history - notably in the 1970s and early 1980s. This brand remained in conversational use amongst the local public afterwards. The modern STV brand was adopted on Tuesday 30 May 2006 replacing both franchises' previous identities. The sense of continuity in the name was demonstrated when STV celebrated its 60th birthday in 2017, with special programmes broadcast on STV itself and the now defunct STV2. STV News
''STV News'' is a Scottish news service produced by STV. The news department produces two regional services covering STV's Channel 3 franchise areas of Northern and Central Scotland. STV's news programmes are produced from studios in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen with reporters also based at newsrooms in Dundee and Inverness and political correspondents based at Holyrood and Westminster. Freelance correspondents and camera crews are based on the Orkney and Shetland Isles, Wick and Fort William with a permanent Western Isles correspondent based in Stornoway. Take The High Road
''Take the High Road'' (renamed ''High Road'' from 1994 to 2003) was a Scottish soap opera produced by Scottish Television, which started in February 1980 as an ITV network daytime programme, and was broadcast until 2003. It was set in the fictional village of Glendarroch, and exteriors were filmed in the real-life village of Luss on the banks of Loch Lomond. The series was dropped by most ITV stations in the 1990s – the Scottish, Grampian, Border and Ulster stations continued to screen it until the last episode. Halla Mohieddeen (born 13 October 1979) is a Scottish journalist, broadcaster and television presenter. Biography Mohieddeen was born to a Lebanese father and Scottish mother. She studied Interpreting and Translating at the Heriot-Watt University. She previously presented the ''Morning News'' and ''Middle East Matters'' programmes for Paris-based 24 hour international news channel, France 24. Local Television In The United Kingdom
Local television in the United Kingdom, described in legislation as Local Digital Television Programme Services (L-DTPS), provides a television station for a specific local area. Successful applicants are awarded a sole licence for their chosen area, and are expected to locate their studios within the same area. They broadcast on the digital terrestrial (DTT) system, as used by the national Freeview service. The independent regulator, Ofcom, invites applications in all areas where transmission is technically possible, and assesses proposals against the statutory criteria.
