SE Racing
SE Racing was a BMX bicycle company which was founded in 1977 by Scot Breithaupt (Scot Enterprises). The company manufactured the PK Ripper BMX bike and the Floval Flyer.''BMX Plus!'' July 1994 Vol.17 No.7 pg.48 The PK Ripper is the longest running production BMX bike. History SE Racing The company was originally called Scot Enterprises and later SE Racing. SE Racing began experimenting with flat oval aluminum tubing that they called Floval. In 1977 SE Racing produced the JU-6 which was named after Jeff Utterback from their racing team. He finished 6th nationally. The Floval frame featured elongated aluminum tubes with long welds which eliminated the need for Gusset plates. Scot Breithaupt
Scot Alexander Breithaupt (July 14, 1957 – July 5, 2015) was an entrepreneur, "Old School" professional motorcycle MX and bicycle motocross (BMX) racer and a founding father of BMX in 1970 whose prime competitive years were from 1970 to 1984. Many consider him, in some ways, a founder of "Old School BMX"—an era from roughly 1969 to 1987 or 1988, from its very beginnings to just after its first major slump in popularity from 1985 to 1988. Racing started to rise in participation again around 1988–89 and is considered the start of ''Mid School BMX'', roughly 1988–2000. He was born in Long Beach, California. BMX Bike
A BMX bike is an off-road sport bicycle used for racing or stunt riding. BMX mean''s bicycle'' ''motocross''. Gusset Plate
Gusset plate is a plate for connecting beams and girders to columns. A gusset plate can be fastened to a permanent member either by bolts, rivets or welding or a combination of the three. Chromoly
41xx steel is a family of SAE steel grades, as specified by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Alloying elements include chromium and molybdenum, and as a result these materials are often informally referred to as chromoly steel (common variant stylings include ''chrome-moly'', ''cro-moly'', ''CrMo'', ''CRMO'', ''CR-MOLY'', and similar). They have an excellent strength to weight ratio and are considerably stronger and harder than standard 1020 steel, but are not easily welded, requiring thermal treatment both before and after welding to avoid cold cracking. Perry Kramer (born October 6, 1959 in Santa Monica, California U.S.) is a former American "Old School" professional Bicycle Motocross (BMX) racer whose prime competitive years were from 1974-1981. Among his accomplishments is his co-founding with Scot Breithaupt of Scot Enterprise Racing (SE Racing). His nickname "PK" is a simple derivation from his first and last initials of his name and the inspiration of one of the most popular models of BMX bicycle, the "PK Ripper", that is still in production.
