Südtirol Arena
The South Tyrol Arena (in Italian ''Arena Alto Adige''; in German ''Südtirol Arena'') is a biathlon stadium in the municipality of Rasen-Antholz, in South Tyrol (Italy). The facility will host the biathlon competitions of the 2026 Winter Olympics of Milan-Cortina. History The facility, which began construction in 1969 and opened in 1971, has regularly hosted a stage of the Biathlon World Cup, as well as six editions of the Biathlon World Championships (1975, 1976, 1983, 1995, 2007, and 2020) and two editions of the Biathlon Junior World Championships (1975 and 1983). The stadium was modernized from 2006: the grandstand for spectators was enlarged and a building was built for the competition judges. The total expenditure was 6.9 million euro. 2007 World Championship were attended by 117,000 spectators, with peaks of 23,000 on Saturday 10 February. Rasen-Antholz
Rasen-Antholz (; it, Rasun-Anterselva ) is a municipality in South Tyrol in northern Italy. Geography The municipal area stretches along the Antholz valley, a northern side valley of the larger Puster Valley. In the northeast, the Staller Saddle mountain pass, at a height of leads into the Defereggen Valley in East Tyrol, Austria. The Antholz valley is confined by the mountains of the Rieserferner Group in the north and the Villgraten Mountains in the east, both part of the High Tauern range in the Central Eastern Alps. Notable peaks include the Hochgall, at , and the Wildgall (Collaspro), at , as well as the Ohrenspitzen massif, at , in the northeast. Biathlon Junior World Championships were first held in 1967 for men and in 1984 for women. According to the International Biathlon Union rules, biathletes qualify as Junior if they turn 20, 21 or 22 during the season from November to October, they qualify as Youth when they turn 17, 18 or 19 during the season. The Biathlon World Championships 2020 took place in Rasen-Antholz, Italy, from 12 to 23 February 2020. Host selection On 4 September 2016, Antholz-Anterselva won the voting (30 votes) during the twelfth IBU Congress in Chișinău over Pokljuka (15 votes) and Oberhof, Germany (four votes).
