Søllested

Højreby
Until 1 January 2007 Højreby was a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') on the island of Lolland in Storstrøm County in south Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 128 km², and had a total population of 4,049 (2005). Its last mayor was Jytte Frijs, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. The site of its municipal council was the town of Søllested. Højreby municipality ceased to exist as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). Peter Erasmus Christian Kaalund
Peter Erasmus Christian Kaalund (19 August 1844 – 4 July 1919; also spelled ''Kristian'' or ''Kålund'') was a Danish philologist who specialized in Scandinavian studies. Biography Kristian Kaalund was born at Søllested on Lolland, Denmark. He became a student at the Military Academy in 1863, then went to the University of Copenhagen. He received his cand. mag. in Norse and Danish philology in 1869 and his philosophical doctorate in 1879. Between 1872 and 1874, he made a scientific trip to Iceland to study the country's topography and culture. He subsequently authored a historical-topographical description of Iceland ''En historisk-topografisk Beskrivelse af Island i to bind'' (1877–1882). He was appointed in 1883 as the main librarian of the '' Arnamagnæanske håndskriftsamling'', the collection of Icelandic manuscripts of Árni Magnússon. Torben Tryde
Torben Tryde (12 November 1916 – 24 March 1998) was a Danish lieutenant colonel, writer, olympian, resistance fighter and the last person to be appointed kammerjunker by the Danish Court. Background and education Torben Tryde was son of geodesist Axel Tryde (1884–1939) and Edith Mathilde née Lohse(d. 1945). Torben Tryde had a twin sister Elin Tryde (1916–2003). He graduated from Sankt Jørgens High School in 1935. He went on to graduate from the Danish military Academy in 1939, and chose to continue his military career as a cavalry officer. Tryde married Agnete Toussieng (29 June 1921 – 31 May 2006), and they had four children. Resistance fight Tryde was company leader in the resistance fight during the German occupation of Denmark, but was captured on 1 March 1945. He was held as a prisoner at Vestre Fængsel, and was interrogated by the Gestapo at the Shellhus only days before it was bombed by the British in Operation Carthage on 21 March 1945. Poul Popiel
Poul Peter Popiel (born February 28, 1943) is a Danish-American former professional ice hockey defenceman who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) and World Hockey Association (WHA), and also served as a head coach in the minor leagues. Following a brief 12 games in the International Hockey League (IHL) with the Muskegon Mohawks, he retired and became the head coach. Popiel and Garry Peters were co-winners of the inaugural Ken McKenzie Trophy as Central Professional Hockey League rookies of the year in 1963-64. His younger brother Jan Popiel is also a former professional hockey player. Popiel was the first Danish-born player in the National Hockey League. Popiel's family moved to Canada in 1951 when he was a child, and subsequently moved to the United States and he acquired American citizenship before making his NHL debut. Nakskov
Nakskov is a market town on the island of Lolland in south Denmark. The town has a population of 12,200 (1 January 2025) and is the largest town on the island of Lolland.
