The Söderledstunneln ("South Way Tunnel") is a tunnel between the Central Bridge and the Johanneshov Bridge on the island of Södermalm Södermalm, often shortened to just Söder, is a district and island in central Stockholm. On the stretch between Brännkyrkagatan and Folkungagatan an earlier tunnel called Södergatan had been built in 1944 in a cut-and-cover trench. Between 1964–1966, it was extended 150 metres under Åsö High School. At the start of the 1980s, the decision was taken to build a tunnel to alleviate the congestion south of Högbergsgatan, and then to rebuild the existing northern tunnel. Johanneshovsbron
Johanneshovsbron (Swedish: "The Johanneshov Bridge") is a 756 metres long and 17,9 metres wide road bridge in central Stockholm, Sweden. Overpassing two older bridges, Skansbron and Skanstullsbron, and one newer bridge, Fredriksdalsbron, it connects Södermalm and the tunnel passing under it, Söderledstunneln, to Johanneshov, the district immediately south of the historical city centre, and national road 73, leading out of the city. Brought about by the construction of the tunnel, Johanneshovsbron forms part of one of the major roads passing through the central city, extending north over Centralbron. Running south form the mouth of Söderledstunneln to the west of Skanstull, the bridge runs uphill and somewhat in parallel to Skanstullsbron for some 500 metres before it turns east to pass over its neighbour, between which ramps it finally extends into road 37 underneath the roundabout at Johanneshov. Centralbron
Centralbron (, "The Central Bridge") is a major bridge in central Stockholm, Sweden, connecting the northern district Norrmalm to the southern Södermalm. It is 1,200 metres long and consists of two viaducts passing over Söderström ("Southern Stream") and Riddarfjärden close to Norrström ("Northern Stream") with an interjacent elevated section traversing Riddarholmskanalen and the adjacent eastern waterfront of Riddarholmen. Centralbron has a capacity for 130,000 cars per day. It is paralleled by the bridges (''Södra'' and ''Norra järnvägsbron'') and the tunnel of a two-track railway used by the commuter and freight trains. Centralbron does partly go on top of the Metro which opened on this stretch 1957 and planned together with the bridge. Södermalm, often shortened to just Söder, is a district and island in central Stockholm. Overview The district covers the large island of the same name (formerly called ''Åsön'').
