São Francisco Futebol Clube, commonly known as São Francisco, is a Brazilian football club based in Rio Branco, Acre. The club currently competes in Campenato Acreano, the top division of the Acre state football league. Their colors are blue and red. History The club was founded on October 4, 1967 by Vincente Barata. He was the club's jack of all trades, working at the same time as president, head coach, equipment manager, masseur, and player. São Francisco reached twice the Torneio da Imprensa (also known as Torneio Início) finals, the first in 2006 and the second in 2007, being defeated by Rio Branco in both editions of the tournament. The club lost the first one for 4–3 on the penalty shootout, after a 0–0 draw in regular time. The second one was lost after a 2–0 defeat, the goals were scored by Ley and Pitbull. Rio Branco (, ''White River'') is a Brazilian municipality, capital of the state of Acre. Located in the valley of the Acre River in northern Brazil, it is the most populous municipality in the state, with 413,418 inhabitants, according to the 2018 census, almost half the state population. Acre () is a state located in the west of the North Region of Brazil and the Amazonia Legal. State Football Leagues In Brazil
The Brazilian states football championships are the professional adult male soccer competitions in Brazil that take place between January and April for the Northeast, Central-West, Southeast and South regions. In some states from the North Region, however, it takes place in May or June. Historically, for economic and geographic reasons, such as long distances between the country's main cities, the state leagues were considered the most important championship for Brazilian clubs, especially before 1959, when a regular national championship (Taça Brasil) was first established. In recent years, bigger clubs have become increasingly critical of the state leagues, which are often blamed for the lack of space in Brazil's football calendar and have lost most of its old prestige. Rio Branco Football Club, commonly referred to as Rio Branco, is a Brazilian professional club based in Rio Branco, Acre founded on 8 June 1919. It competes in the Campeonato Acreano, the top flight of the Acre state football league. It is the most successful club in Acre, having won a record 47 state titles, 31 of those being won in the amateur era. Rio Branco also took part in the national league in 21 seasons, the most of any club from the state. It is also the first Northern Brazil and the only club from Acre to play in a continental cup, featuring in the 1997 Copa CONMEBOL after winning the Copa Norte in the same year. Rio Branco's highest national league finish was achieved in 1989, when they finished 16th in the Brazilian Série B.
