The Swedish Security Service ( , SÄPO , , formerly , RPS/Säk, until 1989) is a Swedish government agency organized under the Ministry of Justice. It operates as a security agency responsible for counter-espionage, counter-terrorism, as well as the protection of dignitaries and the constitution. The Swedish Security Service is also tasked with investigating crimes against national security and terrorist crimes. Its main mission, however, is to prevent crimes, not to investigate them. Solna
Solna ( or , ), also known as Solna Municipality, is a municipality in central Stockholm County, Sweden, located just north of Stockholm City Centre. Its seat is located in the town of Solna, which is a part of the Stockholm urban area. Solna is one of the wealthiest municipalities in Sweden. The municipality is part of Metropolitan Stockholm. Ernst Henrik Leche (23 July 1897 – 3 April 1978) was a Swedish jurist and a district judge. He is credited with the establishment of the General Security Service (''Allmänna säkerhetstjänsten''), the predecessor of the Swedish Security Service. Early life Leche was born on 23 July 1897 in Karlskrona, the son of Commander Carl Leche and his wife Elisabeth (née Swanlund) and brother of Colonel Hakon Leche. He passed '' studentexamen'' in 1915 and became a reserve officer in 1917 and received a Candidate of Law degree in Stockholm in 1920. Career Leche was acting legal clerk (''fiskal'') in the Svea Court of Appeal in 1925, co-opted member (''adjungerad ledamot'') of it in 1926 and assessor in 1929. Colonel Axel Fredrik Carlos Adlercreutz (26 January 1890 – 7 October 1963) was a Swedish Army officer. Adlercreutz is credited with the formation of the General Security Service (''Allmänna säkerhetstjänsten'') in 1938 (predecessor of the Swedish Security Service), and the intelligence agency C-byrån in 1939. The General Staff (, Gst) was a Swedish government agency established in 1873 and was active until 1937. It was headed by the Chief of the General Staff which was a senior member of the Swedish Army. History The first traces of a Swedish general staff were in Gustavus Adolphus's army.
