Cyndy Szekeres (born October 31, 1933) is an American children's book author and illustrator who has produced more than 130 books in the tradition of Beatrix Potter and Garth Williams. Best known for her anthropomorphic animal illustrations, she won the 1969 AIGA Award for ''Moon Mouse''. Biography Szekeres was born on October 31, 1933, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Her parents were Stephen Paul, a toolmaker, and Anna (Ceplousky) Szekeres. Her father was a first-generation immigrant from Hungary, while her mother was a second-generation Lithuanian American. Szekeres grew up in the countryside of Fairfield County, where she developed a love of nature and began drawing in pencil at a very young age. Dorina Szekeres (born July 30, 1992 in Zalaegerszeg) is a former Hungarian swimmer, who specialized in the backstroke and IM events. She graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor's degree in sports marketing and management. She is currently the general manager of Team Iron, founding member of the International Swimming League. Esther Szekeres ( hu, Klein Eszter; 20 February 191028 August 2005) was a Hungarian people, Hungarian–Australians, Australian mathematician. Biography Esther Klein was born to Ignaz Klein in a Jewish family in Budapest, Kingdom of Hungary in 1910. As a young physics student in Budapest, Klein was a member of a group of Hungarians including Paul Erdős, George Szekeres and Pál Turán that convened over interesting mathematical problems. In 1933, Klein proposed to the group a combinatorics, combinatorial problem that Erdős named as the Happy Ending problem as it led to her marriage to George Szekeres in 1937, with whom she had two children. Following the outbreak of World War II, Esther and George Szekeres emigrated to Australia after spending several years in Hongkou District, Hongkew, a community of refugees located in Shanghai, China. Imre Szekeres (born 9 September 1950) is a Hungarian people, Hungarian politician of the Hungarian Socialist Party (MSZP) and former Minister of Defense. Biography Szekeres was born in Szolnok. He is married to a chemical engineer; they have two children. He graduated from the University of Pannonia, Veszprém University of Chemical Engineering as a chemical systems engineer in 1974. After graduation he spent three years at the Cybernetics Institute of the University as an assistant lecturer while studying for a PhD degree. The subject of his 1977 PhD dissertation was the development of artificial intelligence. In 1985, he joined to the City Council of Veszprém, where he later became the deputy chairman.
