Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union
The Kurdish Democratic Political Union ( ku, Yekîtiya Siyasî ya Demokrata Kurd, ar, الإتحاد السياسي الديمقراطي الكوردي), or KDPU was a Syrian Kurdish alliance linked to Iraqi Kurdish president Massoud Barzani's Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). Founded in December 2012 in Qamishli, it was aimed at forming a new party to rival the dominant role of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in governing the de facto independent Syrian Kurdish region of Rojava. After one of the parties had broken apart in 2013, the alliance dissolved in April 2014 with the remaining parties merging into the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Syria (KDP-S). Qamishli ( ar, ٱلْقَامِشْلِي, Al-Qāmišlī, ku, قامشلۆ, Qamişlo, syc, ܒܝܬ ܙܠܝ̈ܢ, Bēṯ Zālīn, lit=House of Reeds or syr, ܩܡܫܠܐ, translit=Qamishlo) is a city in northeastern Syria on the Syria–Turkey border, adjoining the city of Nusaybin in Turkey. The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) ( ku, حکوومەتی هەرێمی کوردستان, ''Hikûmetî Herêmî Kurdistan'') is the official executive body of the autonomous Kurdistan Region of northern Iraq. The cabinet is selected by the majority party or list who also select the prime minister of the Iraqi Kurdish polity. The president is directly elected by the electorate of the region and is the head of the cabinet and chief of state who delegates executive powers to the cabinet. The prime minister is traditionally the head of the legislative body but also shares executive powers with the president. The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), also known as Rojava, is a de facto autonomous region in northeastern Syria. Erbil
Erbil, also called Hawler (, ar, أربيل, Arbīl; syr, ܐܲܪܒܹܝܠ, Arbel), is the capital and most populated city in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. It lies in the Erbil Governorate. It has an estimated population of around 1,600,000. Human settlement at Erbil may be dated back to the fifth millennium BC. Asayish (Syria)
The Internal Security Forces; ar, قوى الامن الداخلي, Quwā al-ʾAmn ad-Dāḵilī., also known as the Asayish; ar, الْأَسَايِش, al-ʾAsāyiš; syr, ܐܣܐܝܝܫ, Kurdish for Security. in the Jazira, Euphrates, and Afrin Regions, is the police force of the autonomous regions of Rojava.
