Sylviane Noël
Sylviane Noël (born 27 January 1978) is a French politician. She has served as a member of the Senate of France since 2018, representing the Haute-Savoie department. Noël is the first women to represent the department in the Senate. She is a member of The Republicans. Political career In 2008, Noël won election as the mayor of the commune of Nancy-sur-Cluses. She was re-elected to the post in 2014. In 2012, Noël was a deputy to Georges Morand, who ran for the National Assembly with the UMP. Noël and Morand were sanctioned by the UMP for running against the party's preferred candidate Sophie Dion. Senator Jean-Claude Carle placed her second on his list in the 2014 French Senate election; but the list took just under 30 percent of the vote, not enough to win a second seat for the list. Senate (France)
The Senate (french: Sénat, ) is the upper house of the French Parliament, with the lower house being the National Assembly, the two houses constituting the legislature of France. The French Senate is made up of 348 senators (''sénateurs'' and ''sénatrices'') elected by part of the country's local councillors (in indirect elections), as well as by representatives of French citizens living abroad. Senators have six-year terms, with half of the seats up for election every three years. 2014 French Senate Election
The 2014 French senate election was held on 28 September 2014 and featured results which saw the Senate (France), senate being reclaimed by the centre-right party Union for a Popular Movement (UMP). The right-wing conservative victory reversed the results which came during the previous 2011 French Senate election, 2011 French senate election, which was the first time since the foundation of the French Fifth Republic, Fifth Republic in 1958 that the upper house of the French government had been won by a majority of left-wing candidates. Michel Barnier (born 9 January 1951) is a French politician who served as the European Commission's Head of Task Force for Relations with the United Kingdom (UK Task Force/UKTF) from 2019 to 2021. 2022 French Presidential Election
The 2022 French presidential election was held on 10 and 24 April 2022. As no candidate won a majority in the first round, a runoff was held, in which Emmanuel Macron defeated Marine Le Pen and was re-elected as President of France. Macron, from La République En Marche! (LREM), had defeated Le Pen, leader of the National Rally, once already in the 2017 French presidential election, for the term which expired on 13 May 2022.
