Sydney Gidabuday
Sydney Gidabuday (born August 21, 1996, in Orange, California) is an American distance runner who runs for professional running team Roots Running Project. He competes in events ranging from 3000m to the half-marathon. He attended El Modena High School of Orange, California and later competed on the collegiate level at Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado. Early life and education Sydney Gidabuday's birth parents are both Tanzanian-born. Although Gidabuday was raised in Orange, California by an adoptive family and is an American citizen, he was raised in Tanzania from a young age before returning to California for high school and further education. Gidabuday attended El Modena High School in Orange, California where he competed for the track team. Adams State University is a public university in Alamosa, Colorado. The university's Adams State Grizzlies athletic teams compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. History Adams State was founded in 1921 as a teacher's college. Billy Adams, a Colorado legislator who would later become a three-term governor of Colorado, worked for three decades before obtaining the authorization to found Adams State Normal School in 1921, to provide higher education opportunities for teachers from remote and rural areas of Colorado, such as the San Luis Valley, and see them work in those same areas. In 1926, Harriet Dalzell Hester became the university's first graduate. She became the school's first librarian and an Alamosa County school superintendent. A half marathon is a road running event of —half the distance of a marathon. El Modena High School, colloquially called El Mo or ElMo, is a traditional four-year public high school located in the El Modena neighborhood of the City of Orange in Orange County, California. The school celebrated its 50th anniversary during the 2016-17 school year. It is part of the Orange Unified School District and competes in the North Hills League. Alamosa is a home rule municipality and the county seat of Alamosa County, Colorado, United States. The city population was 9,806 at the 2020 United States Census. The city is the commercial center of the San Luis Valley in south-central Colorado, and is the home of Adams State University.
