Sydbank Arena (formerly known as Kolding Hallerne and Tre-For Arena) is an indoor sports arena in Kolding, Denmark primarily used for handball. The arena has a capacity of 5,001 spectators and is home to Danish Handball League team KIF Kolding, one of the most successful teams in the history of Danish handball. KIF Kolding
KIF Kolding is a handball club based in Kolding, Denmark who competes in the Danish Handball League. KIF Kolding has won the Danish Handball Championship a record 14 times. History KIF Kolding KIF Kolding won its first Danish Handball Championship in 1987. From 1987 to 2009 KIF won the Danish Handball Championship 12 times. In the summer of 2011 the women team of the club became an independent club called Vejen EH. KIF Kolding København KIF Kolding København was formed in August 2012 after AG København went bankrupt. Some of the players from AG København joined the players from KIF and some of AGK's sponsors also joined KIF under the new name. The Danish Men's Handball League, formerly known as Herrehåndboldligaen is the men's top Danish professional handball league. The winners of the Danish Men's Handball League are recognised as the Danish men's handball champions. The current champions are GOG Håndbold. Season The Danish Men's Handball League season consists of 14 teams, each playing 26 regular season games. The eight best teams of the regular season advance to further games, where they are divided into two groups of four teams each. No. 1 and 2 from the regular season start with 2 points. 2015 World Women's Handball Championship
The 2015 IHF World Women's Handball Championship, the 22nd event hosted by the International Handball Federation, was held in Denmark. The decision to select Denmark as the host was announced on 27 January 2011. In the final Norway won 31–23 against the Netherlands to gain their third title. Romania won bronze after they defeated Poland 31–22. Venues Venues for the tournament were announced on 7 June 2014. Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning hosted the final, both semi-finals, two quarter-finals, matches in the round of 16 and Denmark's group. 2020 European Women's Handball Championship
The 2020 European Women's Handball Championship was held from 3 to 20 December 2020. The games were played in Herning and Kolding, Denmark. Originally, this tournament would be held with 2 host countries: Norway and Denmark. However, lacking some time for the beginning, Norway renounced the right to seat, respecting the local legislation about the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament was also be one of the qualification events for the 2021 World Women's Handball Championship. It was also be played behind closed doors due to the pandemic.
