Sybase Classic
The Sybase Classic was a women's professional golf tournament on the LPGA Tour for twenty years, from 1990 to 2009. The event was originally known as the "Big Apple Classic", but the name was dropped in 2007 when the tournament relocated from the New York City area to New Jersey. From 1992 through 2006, ShopRite sponsored the ShopRite LPGA Classic in Atlantic City. For its first seventeen years, the event was held at the Wykagyl Country Club in the Wykagyl section of New Rochelle, New York. In 2007 the venue was changed to the Upper Montclair Country Club in Clifton, New Jersey. The tournament was last played in 2009, as Sybase switched its sponsorship to the Sybase Match Play Championship in 2010, also played in New Jersey. Upper Montclair Country Club
Upper Montclair Country Club is an A. W. Tillinghast designed golf course located in Clifton, New Jersey. History The original 18-hole golf course and a brand new Clubhouse opened in 1928. In 1954 Robert Trent Jones Sr. led major course renovation transforming Upper Montclair Country Club into the present 27-hole Championship design. In 2000 the club hired Roger Rulewich to complete a course renovation project that included installing state of the art drainage and irrigation system, while reshaping and restoring all of the bunkers throughout the 27 hole facility. Hee-Won Han
Han Hee-won (Korean 한희원) (born 10 June 1978 in Seoul) is a retired South Korean professional golfer on the LPGA Tour. She was a member of the LPGA Tour from 2001 until her retirement in 2014 and won six LPGA Tour events during her career. She attended Ryukoku University and turned professional in 1998. In 1998 she competed on the LPGA of Korea Tour and the LPGA of Japan Tour, claiming Rookie of the Year honours in Japan. In 1999 she won twice in Japan. She qualified for the U.S.-based LPGA Tour at the 2000 Qualifying School and has played mainly in the United States since 2001. She was Rookie of the Year in her first season. Sherri Steinhauer
Sherri Steinhauer (born December 27, 1962) is an American professional golfer who plays on the Legends Tour. She retired from the LPGA Tour in 2012 after a 26-year career. She was born in Madison, Wisconsin and attended The University of Texas at Austin. Her rookie season on the LPGA Tour was 1986. She has won eight tournaments on the Tour, including two major championships, the 1992 du Maurier Classic and 2006 Women's British Open (she also has two, 1998 and 1999, titles recognized by the Ladies European Tour as majors but not by the LPGA Tour). Steinhauer finished as high as seventh on the money list twice. The first time came in 1994 where Steinhauer won the Sprint Championship in addition to having seven other top 10 finishes. Paula Creamer (born August 5, 1986)''Current Biography Yearbook 2011''p. 128 is an American professional golfer on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour. As a professional, she has won 12 tournaments, including 10 LPGA Tour events. Creamer has been as high as number 2 in the Women's World Golf Rankings. She was the 2010 U.S. Women's Open champion. As of May 1, 2022, Creamer was 12th on the all-time LPGA career money list with earnings of $12,134,840. As an amateur, Creamer won numerous junior golf titles, including 11 American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) tournaments. Wykagyl Golf Club
Wykagyl Country Club is a golf course in the Wykagyl section of New Rochelle, New York. Through the years, the club has hosted major professional and amateur tournaments and is considered to be one of the premier "classic courses" in the country. The club is private and application for membership is by invitation only. History Creation of the PGA In February 1916 the Professional Golfers' Association was established in New York City.
