Syafiq Zainal
Muhammad Syafiq bin Mohamed Zainal (born 19 July 1991) is a Singaporean footballer who plays as a forward for Balestier Khalsa RC. Club career Syafiq began his football career with Balestier Khalsa in the S.League in 2010. He moved to Young Lions the following season. In January 2013, he was named in the LionsXII squad for the 2013 Malaysia Super League. He scored the winner in a Super League match over Terengganu on 19 January. He signed for Balestier United RC after being released by the Tigers in 2016. Personal life Syafiq graduated from the Singapore Sports School in 2007. Career statistics Club . Forwards (also known as attackers) are outfield positions in an association football team who play the furthest up the pitch and are therefore most responsible for scoring goals as well as assisting them. 2011 AFF U-23 Youth Championship
The AFF U-23 Championship is an international football competition contested by the national under-23 teams of the member nations of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF). The inaugural edition was held in 2005. Background In 2005, the first edition was held in Bangkok, Thailand as the AFF U-23 Youth Championship. A second edition of the tournament was set to take place in Palembang, Indonesia between 16 and 26 July 2011 but was cancelled due to the main stadium of Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium, which was to be used for the tournament, still being under renovation. In 2019, the tournament was then revived as the AFF U-22 Youth Championship with Phnom Penh, Cambodia as the host where it also served as a preparatory tournament for the Southeast Asian Games and AFC U-23 Asian Cup football tournament. 2013 AFC U-22 Championship Qualification
The 2013 AFC U-22 Championship qualification was the qualification tournament for the inaugural edition of the AFC U-22 Asian Cup. The qualifiers took place from 23 June to 3 July 2012, but were later changed to 2–10 June for Group D, due to Nepal's request. The matches were later rescheduled to start from 16 June and 3 July for Indonesia. 2014 LionsXII Season
The 2014 season is LionsXII's third in the Malaysia Super League. After winning the 2013 Malaysia Super League title, head coach V. Sundramoorthy left for Malaysia Premier League side Negeri Sembilan at the end of the previous season. Singapore legend and former Singapore Lions teammate Fandi Ahmad was appointed as the new head coach on 7 December 2013 with another ex-teammate Nazri Nasir joining him as his assistant on 16 December. On the playing front, the Lions lost the services of key players midfielder Hariss Harun, defender Baihakki Khaizan, club captain and top-scorer Shahril Ishak to rival Super League clubs. 2013 LionsXII Season
The 2013 season is LionsXII's 2nd season in the Malaysia Super League. LionsXII won their first MSL title. LionsXII were set a target of finishing top five for the 2013 Malaysia Super League. Five senior players, namely Shahril Ishak, Isa Halim, Fazrul Nawaz, Irwan Shah and Baihakki Khaizan were included in the 29-men squad to guide the younger players. Other key players such as Shahdan Sulaiman and Shaiful Esah no longer featured. The main aim was to develop the U–23 players and prepare them for the upcoming 2013 Southeast Asian Games that would be held at the end of the year.
