Sergei Valentinovich Zabolotnov (also Sergey, russian: Серге́й Валентинович Заболотнов; born 11 August 1963, is a former backstroke swimmer from the USSR. Career In 1983, he set a European record in the 200 m backstroke. The time of 2:00.42 was achieved on 4 July 1983 at Edmonton, Canada, when winning a gold medal whilst competing in the World University Games. He set his second European record on 15 February 1984, recording 2:00.39 at the Soviet Winter Nationals. After missing the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles of late July and early August due to the eastern bloc boycott, Zabolotnov competed at the Friendship Games in Moscow, USSR, winning the gold medal for the 200 m backstroke in a world record time of 1:58.41 on 21 August 1984. Ricardo Prado (born 3 January 1965 in Andradina, São Paulo, Brazil) is an Olympic and former World Record holding medley swimmer from Brazil. He was one of the greatest swimmers in the history of Brazil and the best Brazilian swimmer in the 1980s. International career At just 14 years old, he participated at the 1979 Pan American Games, in San Juan, where he finished seventh in the 400-metre individual medley, and eighth in the 200-metre individual medley. Prado participated in the 1980 Summer Olympics, in Moscow. He swam the 400-metre individual medley and the 100-metre backstroke, not reaching the final. Anthony Robin Le Clerc Mosse (born 29 October 1964 in Hong Kong) is a former New Zealand swimmer who competed at two Summer Olympic Games and three Commonwealth Games. He won one Olympic bronze medal, as well as two gold medals, one silver and one bronze at the Commonwealth Games. Biography Mosse was the standard bearer for New Zealand competitive swimming through the 1980s. He swam at his first Commonwealth Games, in Brisbane, Australia in 1982, when he was 17. Michael Groß (, ; born 17 June 1964), usually spelled Michael Gross in English, is a former competitive swimmer from Germany. He is tall, and received the nickname "The Albatross" for his especially long arms that gave him a total span of 2.13 meters. Jonathan Scott Sieben, OAM (born 24 August 1966) is an Australian former butterfly swimmer of the 1980s, who won gold in the 200-metre butterfly at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles Olympics. Hailing from Brisbane, Queensland, Sieben was coached by Laurie Lawrence, and made his debut at the young age of 15 at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, where he captured a bronze in the 200-metre butterfly, as well as gold in the medley relay. Dmitri Kuzmin (russian: Дмитрий Кузьмин; born September 9, 1977) is a Russian-born Kyrgyzstani former swimmer, who specialized in middle-distance freestyle events. He is a single-time Olympian (2000), and a former Kyrgyzstan record holder in the 200 and 400 m freestyle. While playing for the Russian senior team, Kuzmin also earned a bronze medal, along with Maksim Korsunov, Dmitry Chernyshov, and Andrey Kapralov, in the 4×200 m freestyle relay at the 1999 European Aquatics Championships in Istanbul, Turkey. Kuzmin competed in three swimming events at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He cleared a FINA B-standard of 1:51.90 from the Russian National Championships in Moscow. Alexandre Yokochi
Alexandre Felske Tadayuki Yokochi (born 13 February 1965) is a Portuguese-born former swimmer. He now resides in the United States and works as a professor of mechanical engineering at Baylor University. Swimming career Born in Lisbon, Portugal, Yokochi was a breaststroke swimmer who broke many Portuguese swimming records. One of his most famous achievements was when he broke both the 100 m and 200 m. He competed in many international competitions such as the European Championships and Olympics whilst representing S.L. Benfica. His 100 m and 200 m records remain unbeaten in the Iberian Peninsula. He was trained by his father, Shintaro Yokochi (1935-2023), who was the head coach of S.L.
