''Sweet Nothings'' is the seventh studio album by Dog Fashion Disco, released in 2014. Their first album in eight years, it was written and recorded after the band reunited in 2013, following an almost seven-year hiatus. It is the first album with Tim Swanson of Ideamen on keyboard. However, he played with the band on the 2006 tour in support for their previous album, ''Adultery''. Dog Fashion Disco is an American heavy metal band from Rockville, Maryland, that was originally active from 1995 to 2007 before disbanding. The band officially reunited on October 10, 2013. History Combining many different music styles (1960s psychedelic, jazz, piano recital, heavy metal, circus music and vocals, among others) Dog Fashion Disco is primarily considered an avant-garde metal and alternative metal band. Ideamen
Ideamen is an art rock band from Chicago, Illinois, formed in 2006. Biography Beginnings (2006–2009) Ideamen was created in late 2006 shortly after keyboardist Tim Swanson ended his short stint as keyboardist for Dog Fashion Disco and then teamed up with vocalist Dave Solar and bassist Mark Vasquez, following the dissolution of local Chicago-area bands Duct Tape Mustache and Soulvasq. Guitarist Jeff Piekarczyk and drummer Phil Goodrich rounded out the lineup, and in 2007, the band debuted with the release of their self-produced EP ''Progress''. Piekarczyk left the band and guitarist Dan Figurell, formerly from the band Broken April, replaced him. The EP attracted the label Rotten Records (of whom Dog Fashion Disco was signed to when they dissolved), and Rotten signed Ideamen in 2008. ''Adultery'' is a concept album by Dog Fashion Disco, their sixth album, released in 2006, and last album to be released by the band before their dissolution in 2007. The album loosely follows the story of a private detective. Musical style '' Blabbermouth'' said in a review of the album that Dog Fashion Disco "is genre-less and proud of it" and that it continued to showcase the band's distinctive "blend of strangely accessible hard rock, metal, punk, jazz ndska". Track listing Background After the band's deal with Artemis ended, drummer Mike "Ollie" Oliver left the band. This left Smith and Stepp to write most of the album on their own without a drummer. Todd Smith (musician)
Todd Smith is an American vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist who most notably fronts the band Dog Fashion Disco. He is currently involved with the bands Polkadot Cadaver, Knives Out!, Beyond Paranoid, and his solo project El-Creepo!. Background Smith was the lead singer and songwriter for the multi-genre metal band Dog Fashion Disco from 1996 until 2007, and continued in this role when the band reformed in 2011 until the present day. Smith contributed vocal and guitar work to the 2005 album The Exotic Sounds of the Alter Boys by the Ohio-based band The Alter Boys. On February 18, 2007, Smith started a musical project called Polkadot Cadaver, announced shortly after the break-up of Dog Fashion Disco.
