Sweden–Turkey Relations
Swedish–Turkish relations are foreign relations between Sweden and Turkey. Both countries are full members of the Council of Europe, NATO, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the Union for the Mediterranean. Sweden has an embassy in Ankara and a consulate–general in Istanbul. Turkey has an embassy in Stockholm. Also Sweden is an European Union, EU Member state of the European Union, member and Turkey is an European Union, EU Accession of Turkey to the European Union, candidate. Turkey did not support Accession of Sweden to NATO, Sweden's accession to NATO until January 2024, but accepted its participation. Ankara
Ankara ( , ; ), historically known as Ancyra and Angora, is the capital of Turkey. Located in the central part of Anatolia, the city has a population of 5.1 million in its urban center and over 5.7 million in Ankara Province, making it Turkey's second-largest city after Istanbul.
