Sweden In The Eurovision Song Contest 1971
Sweden did not compete in the Eurovision Song Contest 1970, as a protest against that four countries shared the victory the preceding year. They were, however, back for the 1971 contest. Five semi-finals, with the same three competitors in all of them, were held in the popular TV show ''Hylands hörna''. The group Family Four won all of the semi-finals, and therefore sung all the songs in the final. The song "Vita vidder", written and composed by Håkan Elmquist, won and represented Sweden at ESC, held in Dublin. Before Eurovision Melodifestivalen 1971 Melodifestivalen 1971 was the selection for the 12th song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 11th time that this system of picking a song had been used. 1164 songs were submitted to SVT for the competition. Family Four
Family Four were a Sweden, Swedish pop group who recorded during the 1960s and 1970s. They were made up of Berndt Öst, Marie Bergman, Agnetha Munther and Pierre Isacsson. They won Melodifestivalen twice, in Melodifestivalen 1971, 1971 with "Vita vidder" and in Melodifestivalen 1972, 1972 with "Härliga sommardag". They went on to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest on these two occasions. They finished sixth in Eurovision Song Contest 1971, 1971 and 13th in Eurovision Song Contest 1972, 1972. They also represented their home country Sweden at the opening ceremony of the 1974 FIFA World Cup. Both Marie Bergman and Pierre Isacsson went on to successful solo careers. Sylvia Vrethammar
Eva Sylvia Vrethammar (born 22 August 1945, Uddevalla, Sweden), is a Swedish traditional pop and jazz singer. She is the daughter of Harald Vrethammar, an education official, and Britta Vrethammar, a musical education teacher, specializing in the piano. In 1969, she released a Swedish-language cover version of Dusty Springfield's "Son of a Preacher Man", entitled "En lärling på våran gård". Vrethammar is also fluent in English. In the 1970s, she occasionally appeared as guest singer with the Bert Kaempfert orchestra, singing in English. After a series of tribute concerts in Germany in 2006 and 2008, where she returned to the bandleader's music with ex-Kaempfert trombonist Jiggs Whigham and other former orchestra members (playing as the HR Big Band), in 2012, she recorded numbers from the tours. Bengt-Arne Wallin (13 July 1926 in Linköping – 23 November 2015) was a Swedish jazz composer, arranger, trumpeter, and flugelhorn player who played jazz influenced by Swedish traditional folk music. He also wrote film scores. Biography Between 1953 and 1965, he worked in the ensembles of Arne Domnérus and Lars Gullin, as well as the ''Radiobandet'' with Harry Arnold. He performed with Lill Lindfors and Svante Thuresson. During this time he also participated in Benny Golson's sessions with Scandinavian musicians. SVT1 (SVT Ett; commonly referred to as Ettan) is the primary television station of the Swedish public service broadcaster Sveriges Television in Sweden. Bert Gustav Tommy Körberg (; born 4 July 1948) is a Swedish singer, actor, and musician. English-speaking audiences know him best for his role as Anatoly/"The Russian" in the musical ''Chess''. He played the role on the 1984 concept album, and on stage in the 1986 world première West End production in London, as well as several times since. Körberg has also played the lead role in many Swedish productions of other musicals. Eurovision Song Contest 1970
The Eurovision Song Contest 1970 was the 15th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest and took place in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS), the contest was held at the RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre, RAI Congrescentrum on 21 March 1970, and was hosted by Dutch television presenter Willy Dobbe.
