Swami Vivekanada Institute of Technology (SVIT) is an engineering college in the premises of Mahbub College High School grounds in Patny Centre, Secunderabad of Hyderabad District. History SVIT is located in the premises of Mahboob College, which has a historical significance. This institute was founded in 1862 by Somasundaram Mudaliar, as a first public school for primary education and witnessed turn of two centuries. In 1893, Swami Vivekananda addressed a large gathering on the site of the present-day school. Started as a primary school, Mahboob College now also offers graduate and post graduate education in professional streams. Bathukamma is a flower-festival celebrated by the women of Telangana and some parts of Andhra Pradesh . Every year this festival is celebrated as per the Sathavahana calendar for nine days starting on Pitru Amavasya, which usually coincides with the months September–October of the Gregorian calendar. Bathukamma is celebrated for nine days and corresponds to the festivals of Sarada Navratri and Durga Puja. Swami Vivekananda (; ; 12 January 1863 – 4 July 1902), born Narendranath Datta (), was an Indian Hindu monk, philosopher, author, religious teacher, and the chief disciple of the Indian mystic Ramakrishna. He was a key figure in the introduction of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world; and is credited with raising interfaith awareness, and bringing Hinduism to the status of a major world religion.
