Svitlana Kyrychenko
Svitlana Tykhonivna Kyrychenko ( uk, Світла́на Ти́хонівна Кириче́нко, 31 October 1935 - 22 April 2016) was a member of the Ukrainian human rights movement. Wife of Yuri Badzjo. Early life and education Svitlana Kyrychenko was born on 31 October 1935 in Kyiv. In 1957 she graduated from the Faculty of Philology at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. After graduation, Kyrychenko began working at the Institute of Literature of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Kyiv, where she met Ivan Svitlychny, Leonid Kovalenko, Yuri Badzjo, and Vasyl Stus, who influenced her national consciousness. In 1963, Kyrychenko met Yuri Badzjo at the Institute of Literature of the USSR Academy of Sciences, whom she married in 1964. They had two children - a son and a daughter. Human Rights In Ukraine
Human rights in Ukraine is a highly contested topic. Since 2017, Freedom House has given Ukraine ratings from 60 to 62 on its 100-point scale, and a "partly free" overall rating. Ratings on electoral processes have generally been good, but there are problems with corruption and due process. Background Prior to 1991 As part of the Soviet Union, all human rights were severely limited. The Soviet Union was a one-party state until 1990 and a totalitarian state from 1927 until 1953 where members of the Communist Party held all key positions in the institutions of the state and other organizations. Freedom of speech was suppressed and dissent was punished. Independent political activities were not tolerated, whether these involved participation in free labor unions, private corporations, independent churches or opposition political parties. Khandyga
Khandyga (russian: Хандыга; sah, Хаандыга) is an urban locality (an urban-type settlement) and the administrative center of Tomponsky District in the Sakha Republic, Russia, northeast of Yakutsk, the capital of the republic. As of the 2010 Census, its population was 6,638. Geography Khandyga is located on the northeast corner of the Aldan River, by a bend where the river turns from north to west. The R504 Kolyma Highway passes through the town and the Ulakhan-Bom and Sette-Daban mountain ranges rise to the east. A woman is an adult female human. Prior to adulthood, a female human is referred to as a girl (a female child or adolescent). The plural ''women'' is sometimes used in certain phrases such as "women's rights" to denote female humans regardless of age. Typically, women inherit a pair of X chromosomes, one from each parent, and are capable of pregnancy and giving birth from puberty until menopause. More generally, sex differentiation of the female fetus is governed by the lack of a present, or functioning, SRY-gene on either one of the respective sex chromosomes. Order Of Princess Olga
The Order of Princess Olga ( uk, Орден княгині Ольги) is a Ukrainian civil decoration, featuring Olga of Kiev and bestowed to women for "personal merits in state, production, scientific, educational, cultural, charity and other spheres of social activities, for upbringing children in families". It was established by Presidential Decree № 827/97 of 15 August 1997 and has three grades (classes), the first being the highest. The 1st grade medal is adorned with four rectangular amethysts and features a gilded ornament with silver parts. The two other grades also feature precious stones. Both Ukrainian citizens and foreigners are eligible for the order. The order can be rescinded by the President of Ukraine if a bearer is convicted of a serious crime. Yuri Andropov
Yuri Vladimirovich Andropov (– 9 February 1984) was the sixth paramount leader of the Soviet Union and the fourth General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. After Leonid Brezhnev's 18-year rule, Andropov served in the post from November 1982 until his death in February 1984. Earlier in his career, Andropov served as the Soviet ambassador to Hungary from 1954 to 1957, during which time he was involved in the suppression of the 1956 Hungarian Uprising. He was named chairman of the KGB on 10 May 1967. In this position, he oversaw a massive crackdown on dissent carried out via mass arrests and involuntary psychiatric commitment of people deemed "socially undesirable".
