Croatia selected its entry for the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest through the "Dora 1996" contest, which was held on 3 March 1996, organised by the Croatian national broadcaster Hrvatska radiotelevizija (HRT) in Opatija. The winner was Maja Blagdan with "Sveta ljubav". Before Eurovision Dora 1996 HRT organised the Dora contest to select the Croatian entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 1996, held in Opatija. Ivan Mikulić (born 8 May 1968) is a Herzegovinian Croat singer, best known outside his country for having represented Croatia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, singing " You Are The Only One". Croatia competed in the Eurovision Song Contest 1999, held in Jerusalem. The Croatian entry for the contest was Doris Dragović with the song "Marija Magdalena". Petar Grašo (born 19 March 1976) is a Croatian pop singer and songwriter. Born in Split to basketball player Zoran Grašo, he rose to prominence when Oliver Dragojević performed one of his first songs "Boginja" on the Dora contest in 1995. Ivana Banfić (); born 16 November 1969) is a Croatian dancer and pop singer. She became famous under the stage name I BEE in the 1990s during the period of popularity of dance music in Croatia.
