Sven Groen
Sven Groen (born 30 May 1995) is a professional Dutch former darts player who currently plays in the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Darts Career He won the 14th Development Tour event of 2015 by beating Nick Kenny 4–2 in the final. He then overcame Mario Robbe 6–3 to win the Central European Qualifier for the 2016 World Championship, where he lost 2–1 to Kim Viljanen in the preliminary round. Groen failed to earn a tour card at Q School or qualify for the UK Open and in the rest of 2016 reached two quarter-finals in Challenge Tour events and one in a Development Tour event. After losing in the final round of day one of 2017 Q School, Groen went on to finish third on the Order of Merit and earn a two-year PDC Tour Card. Groen quit of the PDC in 2019. Wijhe
Wijhe () is a village in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is located in the municipality of Olst-Wijhe and is situated about 12 km south of Zwolle on the banks of the river IJssel. Wijhe was a separate municipality until 2001, when it merged with Olst. History & Sights The first written record of Wijhe dates from the year 960 as "Wie." The village has a church built in the late-Gothic style, parts of which date from the 13th and 14th century. The windmill in the centre is still in working order. It was built in 1703 and is the oldest eight square mill in the province. To the north of Wijhe lies the hamlet of Herxen with a riverside nature reserve. Wijhe has three estates: Hengevoorde containing a manor house, Het Nijenhuis with a castle and De Gelder. Kim Viljanen
Kim Viljanen (born December 4, 1981) is a Finnish darts player. Career Viljanen won the boys' singles event at the 1999 WDF World Cup in Durban, South Africa. In 2004, he progressed to the last 32 of the World Masters, losing 3–2 to Tony West. Viljanen competed on the Scandinavian Darts Corporation (SDC) Tour in 2014, and finished third in the Scandinavian Order of Merit. He was awarded a place in the 2015 PDC World Championship after Jarkko Komula, who had finished second on the Scandinavian Tour, was excluded following a suspension by the Finnish Darts Organisation. He lost 4–1 in the preliminary round to Sascha Stein. Viljanen won three SDC Tour events in 2015 and finished top of the Order of Merit, thus qualifying for the 2016 PDC World Championship. 2016 PDC Pro Tour
The 2016 PDC Pro Tour was a series of non-televised darts tournaments organised by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). Players Championships, UK Open Qualifiers and European Tour events are the events that make up the Pro Tour. In 2016 there were 36 PDC Pro Tour events held – 20 Players Championships, six UK Open Qualifiers and ten European Tour events. Prize money Prize money for each Players Championship has increased from £60,000 to £75,000 per event. The UK Open Qualifiers and European Tour events stays the same as in 2015. 2016 UK Open
The 2016 Coral UK Open was a darts tournament staged by the Professional Darts Corporation. It was the fourteenth year of the tournament where, following numerous regional qualifying heats throughout Britain, players competing in a single elimination tournament to be crowned champion. The tournament was held for the third time at the Butlin's Resort in Minehead, England, between 4–6 March 2016, and has the nickname, "the FA Cup of darts" as a random draw will be staged after each round until the final. In a repeat of last year's final, Michael van Gerwen beat Peter Wright to retain his title. During the tournament, he also hit a nine-dart finish against the then-unknown Rob Cross in the fourth round. 2016 PDC World Darts Championship
The 2016 William Hill World Darts Championship was the 23rd World Championship organised by the Professional Darts Corporation since it separated from the British Darts Organisation. The event was held at the Alexandra Palace, London, between 17 December 2015 and 3 January 2016. Gary Anderson was the defending champion, having won his first world title in the 2015 final by beating 16-times champion Phil Taylor 7–6. He retained his title by beating Adrian Lewis 7–5. He also threw a nine-dart finish in his semi-final against Jelle Klaasen to add a bonus £15,000 to his winnings, and hit two maximum checkouts of 170 in the progress. There were 654 maximums thrown during the event, beating the record of 625 from the previous year. 34 of these were produced in the final which is a record for a professional match.
