Suze (river)
The Suze (german: Schüss) is a river in the Bernese Jura, Canton of Berne, Switzerland. Down flow It takes its source in a moorland at over 900 metres of altitude, in the high valley of Les Convers, (see: Renan). It flows down the whole length of the valley of Saint-Imier, (Erguel), leaving it through the gorge of Taubenloch, it flows across the city of Biel/Bienne into the Lake of Bienne, at the altitude of 429 metres, upon a stretch of 45 kilometres. Suze (; oc, Susa) is a commune in the Drôme department in southeastern France in the foothills of the Alps, its buildings are in a steeply-sloped village above a small tributary feeding into the Drôme which runs from the east into the Rhône. Suze () is a Swiss brand of bitters flavored with the roots of the plant gentian, normally drunk as an apéritif. The brand is owned by Pernod Ricard. It is yellow in color with an ABV of 15% across Europe and a version bottled at 20% for the British market. History Suze was first put on the market under the name of Picotin in 1889 on the occasion of the Paris World Fair by Ferdinand Moureaux, who had inherited of his family's distillery in Maisons-Alfort. The name was changed to Suze in 1898 and might either be related to Moureaux' sister in law Susanne Jaspert or to the river Suze in Switzerland, where Moureaux is said to have bought the recipe in 1885 or 1914. "Suze (The Cough Song)" is a song by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, recorded in 1963 during the sessions for '' The Times They Are a-Changin''' (1964). The track was written and performed by Dylan and produced by Tom Wilson. It was released on ''The Bootleg Series Volumes 1–3 (Rare & Unreleased) 1961–1991'' (1991). Dylan played the guitar by fingerpicking in the Piedmont blues style, until he stated coughing started ninety seconds into the recording and asked Wilson to fade it out. The quality of Dyan's playing has been crticised, although some critics have found the track enjoyable. Background and recording "Suze (The Cough Song)" was written by Bob Dylan and recorded during the fifth of the sessions for his third album '' The Times They Are a-Changin''' (1964). Suze DeMarchi (born 14 February 1964) is an Australian singer-songwriter, best known for fronting the band Baby Animals (1989–1996, 2007–present). Early life DeMarchi was born in Perth, Western Australia to Walter and Shirley DeMarchi and has three older siblings; her sister Denise is also a singer. DeMarchi began her singing career in the early 1980s when she was 17, playing in local band Photoplay. Career Early years and Baby Animals In 1985, she moved to London, England where she was signed to EMI and had a fairly successful solo career in pop music, where she released a number of singles: "Young Hearts", "Big Wednesday" and "Dry Your Eyes". Suzanna "Suze" Groeneweg (born 4 March 1875 in Strijensas - died 19 October 1940 in Barendrecht) was a Dutch politician ( Social Democratic Workers' Party - SDAP). She was the first woman to be elected into the Dutch parliament. Groeneweg was a teacher in Rotterdam. She was active in the work for people's education, and also for gender equality, although she did not participate in separate women's groups but preferred to work from within the party. She was also active within the temperance union and the pacifist movement. Groeneweg was a member of the central committee of the social democratic party, SDAP, in 1917, when partial woman suffrage was introduced: women could be voted into office, but not vote themselves.
