Suzanne Shepherd
Suzanne "Honey" Shepherd is an American actress and theater director. Education Shepherd studied acting with Sanford Meisner, and later went on to teach Meisner's program of acting study, the first woman to do so. Career She was a founding member of the Compass Players in the early 1960s, along with Alan Alda and Alan Arkin. She is known for her portrayal of Karen's overbearing mother in the film ''Goodfellas'', Carmela Soprano's mother Mary DeAngelis in the HBO television series ''The Sopranos'', and the assistant school principal in ''Uncle Buck''. She also played the role of Mrs. Scarlini in the film 2000 film ''Requiem for a Dream'', and Big Ethel in '' A Dirty Shame''. Sanford Meisner
Sanford Meisner (August 31, 1905 – February 2, 1997) was an American actor and acting teacher who developed an approach to acting instruction that is now known as the Meisner technique. While Meisner was exposed to method acting at the Group Theatre, his approach differed markedly in that he completely abandoned the use of affective memory, a distinct characteristic of method acting. Meisner maintained an emphasis on "the reality of doing", which was the foundation of his approach. Early life Born in Brooklyn, New York City, Meisner was the oldest child of Hermann Meisner, a furrier, and Bertha Knoepfler, both Jewish immigrants who came to the United States from Hungary. Kate Shepherd
Kate Shepherd (born in 1961) is an American artist based in New York City. Education Shepherd completed her B.A. from Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio, in 1982. She studied briefly at the Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies, New York in 1982, before dropping out to pursue individual artistic work. During this time, Shepherd earned a living painting portraits and making drawings for ''The New Yorker''. She later completed her masters degree with a Master's Certificate, from New York Academy of Art, New York, in 1986. She later attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 1990, and obtained an M.F.A. from the School of Visual Arts, New York in 1992.
