United Sports Club (formerly known as both Prayag United, and Chirag United) is an Indian professional football club based in Kolkata, West Bengal. Founded as Eveready Association in 1927, the club competes in the Calcutta Premier Division A, the highest division of Asia's oldest league CFL. As one of the successful teams from the state, United Sports participated in I-League, which was then top flight of Indian football league system. History 1927–2009 United SC was originally established in 1927 as Eveready Association Club. Since then, they participated in fewer editions of the Calcutta Football League. Indian Super League
The Indian Super League (ISL) is an Indian professional league for men's association football clubs. At the top of the Indian football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Organised by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), and their commercial partners Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), it is officially known as Hero Indian Super League for sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp. The league currently comprises 11 clubs. Each season of the tournament generally runs from October to March. During the league stage of the competition, each club plays against all the other clubs in a round-robin style. The 2022–23 Indian Super League is the ninth season of the Indian Super League, the first season as the only top division, and the 27th season of top tier Indian football. It commenced on 7 October 2022 and is scheduled to end in March 2023. Jamshedpur are the defending premiers, and Hyderabad are the defending champions.
