Susanne Lundeng
Susanne Merethe Lundeng (born 18 August 1969 in Bodø, Norway) is a Norwegian traditional folk musician ( fiddle) and composer. Career Lundeng had Arvid Engegård as violin teacher and is a prominent practitioner of north Norwegian folk music. She has collaborated with Halvdan Sivertsen and later Sinikka Langeland (2005), among others. In the Midnight Sun Trio she collaborates with Knut Erik Sundquist (bass) and Arvid Engegård (violin). Within S.L. Band she collaborated with Bjørn Andor Drage (piano), Håvar Bendiksen (guitar and accordion), Trond-Viggo Solås (bass) and Arnfinn Bergrabb (percussion). Lundeng got in contact with old fiddlers in Salten, Lofoten at an early stage and she has undoubtedly contributed to the preservation of the Nordland traditional folk heritage. Ketil Bjørnstad (born 25 April 1952) is a pianist, composer and author. Initially trained as a classical pianist, Bjørnstad discovered jazz at an early age and has embraced the emergence of "European jazz". Steinar Ofsdal (born 4 October 1948) is a Norwegian composer and flutist. Career Ofsdal has since 1967 performed on numerous stages in Norway, and worldwide in different settings. He has performed alone or within one of his many bands, and is also known as one of the members of the folk group Bukkene Bruse, including Annbjørg Lien, Arve Moen Bergset and Bjørn Ole Rasch. He has written several compositions for his own concert use, and music for theater, film, television and radio. The Gammleng Award ( no, Gammleng-prisen) is a Norwegian culture award created by ''The Fund for Performing Artists'' in 1982, 25 years after the fund was established in 1957. Ole Bull Academy
The Ole Bull Academy ( no, Ole Bull Akademiet, established 1977 in Voss, Norway) is a Norwegian music college that offers college-level courses on Norwegian folk music and folk dance. Today, the Academy educates about 700 students annually, and over 9000 students had taken a course at the Academy in 2003. Near the end of 2009 the figure was 12,000. Biography The idea of an academy came from Ole Bull in 1863. He wished an academy that was based on Norwegian folk music, and a ballet inspired by Norwegian village dances. The idea was turned into reality by Sigbjørn Bernhoft Osa in 1977, First by course in the "slåttespill" for students at the Norges Musikkhøgskole and Bergen Musikkonservatorium. Daniel Herskedal
Daniel Herskedal (born 2 April 1982) is a Norwegian jazz tubist. He is regarded as one of the most talented jazz tubists in Norway. Career Herskedal started playing the French horn as a boy, then later took up the tuba. He started formal studies at the Storyville jazz club and attended the music program at Molde videregående skole. He recorded albums with his hometown band, Dixi, before moving to Trondheim. He got his bachelor's degree in jazz at Trondheim Musikkonsevatorium (2002–06), where he started the trio Listen! with Espen Berg (piano) and Bendik Giske (saxophone). In 2008, he earned a master's degree in jazz tuba at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen. Frode Fjellheim (born 27 August 1959 in Mussere) is a Southern Saami yoiker and musician (piano and synthesizer) from Norway. He is best known for his band Transjoik and as the composer of the 2002 song "Eatnemen Vuelie", which was later adapted to become the opening musical number of '' Frozen''. David Perry Lindley (born March 21, 1944) is an American musician who founded the band El Rayo-X, and has worked with many other performers including Jackson Browne, Ry Cooder, Bonnie Raitt, Warren Zevon, Curtis Mayfield and Dolly Parton. He has mastered such a wide variety of instruments that ''Acoustic Guitar'' magazine referred to Lindley not as a multi-instrumentalist, but instead as a "maxi-instrumentalist."
