Susane Giti
Susane Giti SUP, fcps is a retired major general of Bangladesh Army. She is the first to be promoted to 2 star General. She served as the Commandant of Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. She was promoted to the rank of major general on 30 September 2018 as the first female major general in the Bangladesh Army. Education Giti obtained an MBBS degree from Rajshahi Medical College in 1985 and taught Rubia Khanam during 1995. She received her FCPS degree in haematology in 1996. Career Giti joined the medical wing of the Bangladesh armed forces as a captain in 1986. She worked as a pathology specialist in UN Mission and different military hospitals. She was the head of Pathology Department of Armed Forces Medical College. General Giti retired from the army on February, 2023. Women In The Bangladesh Army
The Bangladesh Army has had women in the officer ranks since it's inception in 1971, though women could join as doctors only. Women were not allowed to join as ordinary soldiers till 2010s decade. In 2013, it was announced in newspapers through recruitment advertisement that women would be recruited as ordinary soldiers in the Army's Medical Corps. In 2015, the country got trained female soldiers for the first time. On the other hand, women can be commissioned in various arms and services of the army since the early 2000s decade. Now women can become both soldiers and officers in every corps of the Bangladesh Army except the infantry, artillery and armored corps though women are commissioned in the artillery. Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) is a public medical school located in Rajshahi, Bangladesh. The college is affiliated to Rajshahi Medical University.
