Surrey Stars
The Surrey Stars were an English women's Twenty20 cricket team based in South London that competed in the English women's Twenty20 competition, the Women's Cricket Super League. The Stars played their home matches at The Oval and Woodbridge Road, Guildford. They were captained by Nat Sciver and coached by Richard Bedbrook, working with Surrey’s Director of Women’s Cricket Ebony Rainford-Brent. The Stars won the 2018 Women's Cricket Super League, beating Loughborough Lightning in the final at the County Cricket Ground, Hove. In 2020, following reforms to the structure of women's domestic cricket, some elements of the Surrey Stars were retained for a new team, the South East Stars. Richard Bedbrook
Richard Denison Bedbrook (born 29 July 1978) is an English professional cricket coach and former player. Bedbrook was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium-fast. Bedbrook made his Minor Counties Championship debut for Wiltshire in 2000 against Devon. From 2000 to 2008, he represented the county in 38 Minor Counties Championship matches, the last of which came against Berkshire. Bedbrook has also represented Wiltshire in the MCCA Knockout Trophy. His debut in that competition came against Cornwall in 2001. He has represented the county in 26 Trophy matches. Bedbrook has also represented Wiltshire in List A cricket. His List A debut came against Derbyshire Cricket Board in the 2001 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy. 2016 Women's Cricket Super League
The 2016 Women's Cricket Super League, or 2016 Kia Super League for sponsorship reasons, was the first season of the Women's Cricket Super League (WCSL), a semi-professional women's cricket competition in England and Wales. The competition, run by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), consisted of six franchise teams playing in a Twenty20 format. Each team featured three or four players contracted to the England women's cricket team and three overseas international players. Three teams qualified from the league stage of the competition; the Southern Vipers went directly into the final, while the Loughborough Lightning and Western Storm met in a semi-final. The Southern Vipers became the first WCSL champions, defeating Western Storm by seven wickets in the final. Bryony Smith
Bryony Frances Smith (born 12 December 1997) is an English cricketer who plays for Surrey, South East Stars and Trent Rockets. A right-handed batter who bowls off spin, she made her county debut for Surrey in 2014. She has played three T20Is and one ODI for England, making her debut in 2018. Early life Smith was born on 12 December 1997 in Sutton, Greater London. She has worked as a secondary school teacher. Domestic career Smith made her Surrey debut in 2014 in a County Championship match against Warwickshire, making 13 runs batting at 7. She made 60* in her second match, a victory against Yorkshire. Smith quickly became a regular in Surrey's side, with her best seasons coming in 2018 and 2019, in which she hit 256 runs at 42.66 and 347 runs at 57.83, respectively. Fast Bowling
Fast bowling (also referred to as pace bowling) is one of two main approaches to bowling in the sport of cricket, the other being spin bowling. Practitioners of pace bowling are usually known as ''fast'' bowlers, ''quicks'', or ''pacemen''. Aylish Cranstone
Aylish Cranstone (born 28 August 1994) is an English cricketer who currently plays for Surrey, South East Stars and Oval Invincibles. She plays as a left-handed batter. She has previously played for Hampshire and Devon, as well as playing in the Women's Cricket Super League for Surrey Stars and in The Hundred for London Spirit. Early life Cranstone was born on 28 August 1994 in Guildford, Surrey. She attended the University of Exeter. Domestic career Cranstone made her county debut in 2008, for Hampshire against Essex, scoring a duck. In 2009 she hit her maiden county half-century, scoring 75 against Derbyshire. 2019 Women's Cricket Super League
The 2019 Women's Cricket Super League, or 2019 Kia Super League for sponsorship reasons, was the fourth and final season of the Women's Cricket Super League (WCSL), the semi-professional women's cricket competition in England and Wales. The competition, run by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), consisted of six franchise teams playing in a Twenty20 format. The tournament was scheduled to be replaced by the Women's Hundred and a new regional domestic structure from the next season, although the full implementation of this was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Surrey Stars were the defending champions. Western Storm defeated Southern Vipers by 6 wickets to win the 2019 title. Lizelle Lee
Lizelle Lee (born 2 April 1992) is a South African cricketer who played for the South Africa women's national cricket team from 2013 to 2022. She has played for Western Storm and Surrey Stars in the Women's Cricket Super League, as well as Melbourne Stars, Melbourne Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes in the Women's Big Bash League. Lee is an opening batter. In January 2022, Lee was named the ICC Women's ODI Cricketer of the Year. In July 2022, Lee announced her retirement from international cricket. Not Out
In cricket, a batter is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batter is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Occurrence At least one batter is not out at the end of every innings, because once ten batters are out, the eleventh has no partner to bat on with so the innings ends. Usually two batters finish not out if the batting side declares in first-class cricket, and often at the end of the scheduled number of overs in limited overs cricket. Batters further down the batting order than the not out batters do not come out to the crease at all and are noted as ''did not bat'' rather than ''not out''; by contrast, a batter who comes to the crease but faces no balls is ''not out''.
