Supertourism
Supertourism or Tourism-1600 is a former touring car racing series held in Russia in 1995-2003. History Series starts in USSR in 1960s as A-1600. Base cars were VAZ-2101 The VAZ-2101 ''" Zhiguli"'', commonly nicknamed ''" Kopeyka"'' (for the smallest Soviet coin, 1/100 of the ''Ruble''), is a compact sedan car (''small class, passenger car, model 1'' in Soviet classification) produced by the Soviet manufacture ... and Lada Riva. After USSR dissolution series was abandoned. In 1995 series was relaunched as Tourism-1600 with status ''Championship of Russia''. In 2001 series was renamed to Supertourism. But budget and technical race of leaders reduced number of teams. After 2003 season 2 lead teams (''Lada'' and ''Lukoil Racing'') left championship. Series was closed. Lukoil Racing
Lukoil Racing team is the leading Russian motorsport organization; its operations including management, driver training and support, engineering expertise and a quality technical environment, which enables continuous development, building, testing and race preparation. Russian competitions The team was created in 1997 to participate in the Russian Formula 3 and Tourism-1600 championships. With a European level of organisation and sponsorship from the Lukoil oil company, the team became the main force in the Russian autosport arena. Unfortunately though both series have now ended. Lukoil Racing won 5 of 6 team titles in Russian F3 and 6 of 7 team titles in Supertourism in the seasons it participated in. In 2003 Lukoil Racing created a junior team for Formula RUS. The team won the title three years in a row, but at the end of 2005 season decided to leave series. Lukoil Racing easily won drivers and team titles of the Finnish Formula 3 Championship in 2003. Alexey Vasilyev (racing Driver)
Aleksey Igorevich Vasilyev ( rus, Алексе́й И́горевич Васи́льев, p=ɐlʲɪkˈsʲej ˈiɡərʲɪvʲɪtɕ vɐˈsʲɪlʲjɪf; born 13 January 1972) is a Russian auto racing driver. Career Vasilyev began karting in 1984 and raced primarily in his native Soviet Union for the majority of his early career, finishing as runner-up in the USSR championship in 1989. From 1990 to 2000 he raced in Russian touring car championships, winning three championship titles in the Tourism-1600 category. In 2000 he debuted internationally, competing in the N-GT class of the FIA GT Championship for Freisinger Motorsport alongside another Russian driver Nikolai Fomenko. After the 2001 season, he and Fomenko switched to RWS Motorsport for next two successive years. In 2002, Vasilyev scored his first point at Donington. Alexey Dudukalo
Aleksey Nikolayevich Dudukalo ( rus, Алексе́й Никола́евич Дудука́ло, p=ɐlʲɪˈksej nʲɪkɐˈlaɪvʲɪtɕ dʊdʊˈkalə; born 6 October 1976, in Moscow) is a Russian auto racing driver. He raced in the World Touring Car Championship between 2011 and 2013. Career Early years Dudukalo started his racing career in 1995 in autocross racing. Five years later he switched to single–seaters. Dudukalo competed in Russian Formula 1600, where he was third in 2004 (his best result in open wheel series). He has very successful in the Supertourism/Tourism 1600 (champion in 2003) and the Russian Honda Civic Cup/Super Light Cup (champion in 2004–06), as well as the Touring-Light class of the Russian Touring Car Championship (champion in 2008 and 2009). It has both similarities to and significant differences from stock car racing, which is popular in the United States. While the cars do not move as fast as those in Formula racing, formula or sports car racing, sports car races, their similarity both to one another and to fans' own vehicles makes for entertaining, well-supported racing. The lesser use of aerodynamics means following cars have a much easier time passing than in open-wheel racing, and the more substantial bodies of the cars makes the subtle bumping and nudging for overtaking much more acceptable as part of racing. As well as short "sprint" races, many touring car series include one or more Endurance racing (motorsport), endurance races, which last anything from 3 to 24 hours and are a test of reliability and pit crews as much as car, driver speed, and consistency. The VAZ-2108, known as the Lada Samara in much of Western Europe (codenamed and later officially badged as the Lada Sputnik in its native Russia), is a series of small family cars produced by Soviet/Russian vehicle manufacturer AvtoVAZ under the Lada brand between 1984 and 2013.
