''Headbangers Ball'' is a music television program that consisted of heavy metal music videos airing on MTV and its global affiliates. The show began on MTV on April 18, 1987, playing heavy metal music videos from both well-known and more obscure artists. The show offered (and became famous because of) a stark contrast to Top 40 music videos shown during the day. However, with the mainstream rise of alternative rock, grunge, pop punk and rap music in the 1990s, the relevance of ''Headbangers Ball'' came into question, and the show was ultimately canceled in 1995. Over eight years later, as new genres of heavy metal were gaining a commercial foothold and fan interest became unavoidable, the program was reintroduced on MTV2. It had remained in varying degrees on the network's website, but by the early 2020s, it was no longer shown on television. A similar show, titled ''The Ball'' and hosted by former ''Headbangers Ball'' host Riki Rachtman, debuted in March 2021. Many of the ...

Originally named Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids, they gained a local cult following in South Florida in the early 1990s with their theatrical live performances. In 1993, they were the first act signed to Trent Reznor's Nothing Records label. Their lineup has changed between many of their album releases; the eponymous lead singer is the only remaining original member. The Beautiful People (song)
"The Beautiful People" is a song by American rock band Marilyn Manson. It was released as the lead single from the band's second studio album, ''Antichrist Superstar'', in September 1996. Classified as alternative metal, the song was written by frontman Marilyn Manson and Twiggy Ramirez, and was produced by Trent Reznor, Dave Ogilvie and Manson. The title of the song comes from Marylin Bender's 1967 book ''The Beautiful People'', which exposed the world of scandal within the "jet-set" lifestyle of the 1960s, and the culture of beauty as it pertained to fashion and politics. In the context of the album's concept, the song refers to the privileged class of elites whom the titular character, a populist demagogue called ''Antichrist Superstar'', fulminate against. Lyrically, it discusses what Manson refers to as "the culture of beauty".Manson, Marilyn. "''How I Wrote "The Beautiful People''". The Prodigy describe their style as electronic punk. The band emerged during the underground rave scene and achieved early success in 1991 with their debut singles "Charly" and "Everybody in the Place", which reached the UK top five. Live version of " Knockin' on Heaven's Door" was described "heavy-handed, but no more so than Guns N' Roses."
