Sunshine 1530
Sunshine 1530 (formerly Sunshine Gold, Sunshine Radio, Classic Hits 954 & 1530, Classic Gold 954/1530 AM, Wyvern AM and Radio Wyvern) was a radio station which broadcast to Herefordshire and Worcestershire on 1530 and 954 kHz Medium Wave from studios in Worcester, England. History The station started life as Radio Wyvern on both FM and AM in 1982. On 5 February 1996 the station split into Wyvern FM, playing newer music, and Wyvern AM which was essentially a gold service. The AM station was then rebranded as Classic Gold to fit in with the rest of the group's AM stations. Soon afterwards, it was sold to Muff Murfin of Murfin Music International as the station overlapped with neighbouring Classic Gold 774 in Gloucestershire. Some time later, it was rebranded as Classic Hits, and became a full-fledged local service with no links to either Wyvern FM or the Classic Gold network. Sunshine Radio (Ludlow)
Sunshine Radio (Ludlow) is an Independent Local Radio station based in Ludlow, Shropshire. The station currently serves south Shropshire, north Herefordshire and north Worcestershire. History Sunshine Radio in Ludlow dates back to the late-1970s. In the summer of 1986 a special event radio station for the Stoke-on-Trent national garden festival occupied the 1017 kHz frequency. It was to be 12 months before Sunshine was heard again The Government once again announced plans for community radio licences in 1988. In 1990 the Sunshine management formed a new company, South Shropshire Communications Ltd. They were granted a test and development licence. In 1992, the Radio Authority advertised a licence for Ludlow and South Shropshire. South Shropshire Communications Ltd applied and won the licence finally taking to the air on 18 October 1992 as Sunshine 855. Sunshine Radio (Herefordshire And Monmouthshire)
Sunshine Radio is an Independent Local Radio station which broadcasts to Herefordshire and Monmouthshire, areas of the West Midlands and South Wales respectively from its studios in Hereford. It is operated by Murfin Media Ltd, and previously by Laser Broadcasting. History Prior to launching the station had a working name of Classic Hits, and the licence application was in this name. Three months prior to the opening, the station rebranded to Sunshine Radio, the same name as the original Sunshine Radio in Ludlow. The station launched on 14 December 2007. A five-minute audio clock was used as a lead in to the opening jingle and welcoming monologue from Station Manager and presenter Mark Edwards at exactly 7am. The station's launch song was 'Start' by The Jam followed by an interview with the then Mayor of Hereford City. Irish Pirate Radio
Pirate radio in Ireland has had a long history, with hundreds of pirate radio stations having operated within the country. Due to past lax enforcement of the rules, the lack of commercial radio until 1989, and the small physical size of the country, pirate radio stations proliferated for a number of years. They were tolerated to a point by the government which only occasionally raided them in an effort to show compliance with Irish law. However, the national broadcaster, RTÉ, took a harsher approach, including radio jamming. History 20th century Pirate radio in Ireland has its origins in the early and mid-20th century. In 1940, for example, Mayo man Jack Sean McNeela died on hunger strike in Arbour Hill Military Detention Barracks after 55 days protesting his arrest for operating a pro IRA pirate radio station. Sunlight is a portion of the electromagnetic radiation given off by the Sun, in particular infrared, visible, and ultraviolet light.
