''Sun God'' is the debut studio album by Sun God, released on May 22, 1995, by Fifth Colvmn Records and Original Artists Group. Music The songs "Ayizan" and "Guede" from ''Sun God'' were released on the various artists compilations ''Life Is Too Short for Boring Music Volume VII'' and ''Forced Cranial Removal'' by EFA and Fifth Colvmn Records. In 1996 the track "Guede", also from the band's debut, was released on ''Living for Music 2'' by Discordia. Reception John Bush of AllMusic awarded ''Sun God'' three out of five stars, calling it an "album of tribal rhythms and percussion" with " Nigiani's airy vocals and Orpheus's sinister growls complementing each other well." Sonic Boom described it as "a modern day interpretation of what many of the early pagan magick ceremonies might have been in the middle ages" and that "the music inspires meditation, celebration and escape from the constraints of society on its listeners." Sun God were a European electronic music group comprising musicians Rodney Orpheus, Marcus Giltjes, and Patricia Nigiani. The band released one studio album titled ''Sun God'' in 1995 for Fifth Colvmn Records and Original Artists Group. History Sun God was formed in Hamburg by musician Rodney Orpheus, working with Marcus Giltjes and Patricia Nigiani. Orpheus is a member of The Cassandra Complex and Nigiani was previously in the band Pitchfork . Orpheus met Jared Louche, of the band Chemlab, who connected the band with Fifth Colvmn Records. In May 1995 Sun God released their debut full-length studio album ''Sun God'' on Fifth Colvmn and Original Artists Group. The album comprised music composed around Voudou and Santeria rituals. Schwann Catalog
The ''Schwann Catalog'' (previously ''Schwann Long Playing Record Catalog'' or later ''Schwann Record And Tape Guide'') was a catalog of recordings started by William Schwann in 1949. The first edition was hand-typed and 26 pages long, and it listed 674 long-playing records (see LP record). By the late 1970s, over 150,000 record albums had been listed in Schwann. The company was honored by the record industry both at the 25th anniversary (1974) and 35th anniversary (1984). The Schwann Catalog changed hands several times, sold in 1976, then again in the late 1980s to Stereophile, then to Valley Media in the 1990s. Fifth Colvmn Records
Fifth Colvmn Records was a record label based in Washington, DC. The label was founded in 1990 by Zalman Fishman, owner of the nightclub FIFTH COLVMN, located in Washington D.C. The label's first release was Chemlab's debut EP Ten Ton Pressure. Jared Hendrickson of Chemlab also became the general manager for the label. Chemlab later played several dates with Nine Inch Nails, eventually attracting a distribution deal for their next release, Burn Out at the Hydrogen Bar, with Metal Blade Records. The band Thud was the next artist to join the label. Heavy, loud and unrelenting, Thud became very popular amongst Metal fans and critics alike luring Eli Janney from Girls Against Boys to contribute to their debut record Life & Death and earning co-headling performances with Stone Temple Pilots. ''Aurora Sutra'' was a German dark wave band that was formed in Hamburg by Patricia Nigiani and Peter Spilles, both members of Project Pitchfork. They began recording under the name Aurora, but added the "Sutra" after the release of their debut '' The Land of Harm and Appletrees'' in 1993.
