Summerwild Productions
Summerwild Productions is a Canadian independent book publisher. Originally based in Gibsons, BC, a small town on British Columbia, British Columbia's Sunshine Coast (British Columbia), Sunshine Coast, the company was founded in 1987 by former president Ken Budd, and is owned and operated by previous managing editor Robert Marthaller. Summerwild has produced and/or published over 40 titles, mainly consisting of non-fiction coffee table photography books featuring wildlife and the environment. Later works include the educational series The Adventures of Buddy Williams, which features four installments, SummerWild, FallGently, WinterFree and SprinRush, all accompanied by Student Study Guides. Roy Henry Vickers
Roy Henry Vickers, (born June 1946 in Laxgalts'ap (now known as Greenville), British Columbia) is a Grammy Award nominated Canadian First Nations artist. He owns and operates a gallery in Tofino, British Columbia. Biography Vickers was born on the Nass River but raised in Kitkatla, Hazelton, British Columbia, and Victoria, B.C. His father was a fisherman who was matrilineally Tsimshian, also with Haida and Heiltsuk ancestry. His mother was a schoolteacher whose parents had emigrated from England and who was in the 1940s adopted into the Eagle clan at Kitkatla, B.C. (making Roy also Eagle). His grandfather was a Kitkatla canoe-carver. The paintings and works that he has created reflect this mixed heritage as his work has many elements of the traditional art of the First Nations peoples of the Pacific Northwest, but remains quite distinctive. Charles Van Sandwyk
Charles Noel van Sandwyk (born 1966) is a Canadian artist, illustrator and writer. Background Born in South Africa, van Sandwyk was exposed to art from an early age, as his father was a graphic designer. At age 12, he emigrated to Canada where his family settled in Deep Cove, North Vancouver, British Columbia. While a high school student he earned income by performing for children as a magician and unicyclist. His artistic ability began while still in elementary school, where he was an exceptional calligrapher, a talent he still uses in his illustrations. He experimented with copper plate etchings as a teen, and developed his unique style. He studied commercial art at Capilano College. David Bouchard
David Bouchard is a Canadian author and former high school principal. Bouchard was born and raised in Saskatchewan. He is a Member of the Order of Canada and a public school in Oshawa, Ontario is named after him. In his 2017 book, ''Proud to Be Métis'', Bouchard writes that his grandfather had Ojibwa and Osage roots, but never spoke of them. This was not uncommon in that era, as many Canadians of Metis background grew up in families that did not speak about their Métis background. BC Book Prizes
The BC Book & Yukon Prizes, established in 1985, celebrate the achievements of British Columbia and Yukon writers and publishers. The prizes, as well as the Lieutenant Governor's Award for Literary Excellence, are presented annually at the Lieutenant Governor's BC Book Prize Gala in April. The prizes are administered and awarded by the West Coast Book Prize Society. Publicity, organization of the awards and fundraising for the Gala and prize pool was handled by Vancouver marketing and publicity firm, Rebus Creative until the end of 2018. In early 2019, Sean Cranbury was appointed as Executive Director by the Board of the West Coast Book Prize Society to take over production and promotion of the BC & Yukon Book Prizes.
